Implemented custom sketches / probabilistic data structures for real time insights on network data. ### Founding Engineer (acquired by Johnson and Johnson) @ Serotiny Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Designed novel receptor proteins for controlling immune cells. Patented receptor proteins for CAR-T cell therapies. Built ML pipelines for candidate generation, manufacturing, and optimization that incorporated multi-modal information ranging from gene expression, long read sequencing, structural biology, and cellular assays. Designed CAD software for enabling the design of therapeutic multi-domain proteins. ### Software Engineer @ SafeGraph Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 Implemented ML pipelines for entity resolution/record linkage and geometry (JTS) generation on terabytes of daily data ingest from metadata, polygon and mobile SDK data for maps and visits API. ### AI Research Engineer @ Columbia University in the City of New York Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Greater New York City Area Implementation and experimentation of deep reinforcement learning architectures for generalizing solutions to integer optimization applications in PyTorch: Zero-shot learning, DDPG, TRPO, combinatorial optimization, simplex algorithm, LSTMs ### Founding Engineer (Facebook acquihire) @ Kofa Jan 2016 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area Backed by Accel, Kofa built the data fabric to power business outcomes. Alteryx/Dataiku but better. ### Fellow @ Insight Data Science Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 Contributed to Spark with new cross validation methods for bayesian hyperparameter optimization (SigOpt) and utilized big data technologies for performing topic modeling on large text data sets (>1TB) with the intent to personalize news feeds. ### Software Engineer @ Sighten, Inc. Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 Solar photovoltaic power generation simulations, generation of novel meteorological data for the solar power industry, implementation of machine learning techniques for device characterization, and designed a micro-service architecture for Sighten's solar production engine. ### Algorithms Engineer @ Stanford Graduate School of Business Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 Worked with Susan Athey and Guido Imbens on causal decision trees and random forests. Implemented novel causal inference decision trees R package (went on to become grf). Involved implementing new formulations of objective functions, goodness of fit, out-of-sample cross-validation methods, and two-stage least squares for data-sets augmented with instrumental variables. ### Research Assistant @ Stanford University School of Engineering Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 Acquisition and classification of objects/scenes from images and videos for generating a massive annotated data set that can facilitate efforts towards recognizing semantic and 3D geometric properties of objects and scenes. The generation of this annotated dataset is made possible with the implementation of an in house Matlab GUI for overlaying object CAD models with truncated and occluded objects of the same class in an image. ### Electrical and Power Systems Designer @ Stanford Solar Decathlon Jan 2014 – Jan 2014 Worked closely with a consultant architect and electrician to design a net-zero-energy electrical system for operating a smart-house, all of its appliances, and an on-site electric vehicle with the use of only solar energy. This included the design of solar photovoltaic arrays, placement of electrical inverters, grid connections, and also the creation of automated controls for smart appliances. Design of the entire house was met with numerous constraints such as the necessity to use commercial products, limitations on square footage, and a maximum market value of $250,000. ### Biosensor Design Researcher @ Stanford University School of Medicine Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 Electrical Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Designed, implemented, and characterized a mixed-signal microfluidics multiplexed bio-sensor on PCB that utilized high voltage radio frequency signals for protein sensing. Designed a Matlab GUI for interactive characterization of biosensor electrode capacitance and impedance parameters. Final results were the scalability to sense up to 128 distinct proteins and to quantify their concentration in realtime. ### Data Science intern @ QuestBridge Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 Utilized R and a variety of machine learning algorithms for strategizing mail and Facebook advertisement campaigns directed at potential college applicants (on the basis of geo-location, ethnicity, income, religion, housing, etc.). Self organizing maps, SVMs, generalized linear models ## Education ### Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical Engineering Stanford University Jan 2011 – Jan 2015 ### Stanford University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/goaaron - Website: http://www.linkedin.com/in/goaaron --- Source: https://flows.cv/aarongoebel JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/aarongoebel/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
