# Aaron Green > Staff Product Designer at Jeppesen ForeFlight Location: Seattle, Washington, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/aarongreen Today I lead human‑factors research and UX for FliteDeck Pro’s integrated EFB. Pilots were juggling ten different apps, so my team designed a single platform that handles flight plans, navigation logs and briefings. We digitized crew briefings to reduce training and costs and created a GNSS‑interference layer to help crews avoid GPS jamming hotspots. I still rely on empathy, curiosity and maintain a cool head while I’m interviewing long‑haul crews, mentoring designers, or scriptwriting for prototype testing.

I’ve always been a storyteller. As a teenager I ran the projector at a single‑screen movie house, learning how powerful narratives can be. That love of story carried me through art school, where I studied visual communications and interned at the Museum of Contemporary Art. My career began at Seattle’s Tablet magazine before I pivoted to interactive design in the early days of mobile, building sports data apps for ESPN and Consumer Reports and learning to prototype on tiny screens. Stints at Blink Interactive, Microsoft and Amazon sharpened my ability to translate complex data into simple, intuitive experiences. Over the past two decades I’ve worked across e‑commerce, entertainment, finance, procurement, gaming and sports statistics , blending agile and lean‑UX methods with a user‑centered philosophy. Aviation has been my home for the last 8 or so years. In 2017 I joined Boeing/Jeppesen to overhaul Aviator, an iPad app for pilot flight plans tasks. When I arrived, pilots were using a cluttered interface with limited functionality. I introduced high‑contrast light and dark modes and built trust by getting into simulators with pilots, dispatchers and flight‑deck SMEs. We turned a paper‑heavy workflow into a modern, customizable dashboard that gives crews the right information at the right moment. ## Work Experience ### Staff Product Designer @ Jeppesen ForeFlight Jan 2017 – Present | Greater Seattle Area I lead human-factors research and UX design for FliteDeck Pro’s integrated EFB, translating complex aviation requirements into intuitive cockpit tools that improve safety, efficiency, while reducing app fatigue due to app switching. I use simulator and desktop session and observations derived from flights where I ride in the jump seat on international flights to direct feature designs. I spearhead the design of FliteDeck Pro’s integrated flight plan and navigation log workflow, enabling crews to interact with a digital flight plan and synchronize navigation logging within a single system. This gives pilots real-time access to critical flight-release data without switching applications and provides dispatch with immediate access to post-flight operational data. My work to digitize crew briefings through FliteDeck Pro’s Briefing Module, replaces static paper workflows with dynamic up-to-date data. This work reduces training, costs, and flight delays. Most recently, I led the design of a GNSS-interference map overlay to address the rapid rise in GPS jamming and spoofing affecting airline operations worldwide. I conducted research with long-haul crews and led field testing (including AirVenture Oshkosh) to inform a filterable map layer. This will allow pilots to assess threats and reconfigure aircraft to use alternate navigational aids. Beyond software, I’ve contributed to flight-deck integration on programs including the Boeing 777X, working in simulators to refine accessibility, information density, and readability for operational environments. I collaborate closely with engineers, pilots, dispatchers, and regulators to ensure design decisions support safe, efficient operations. I focus on reducing complexity, digitizing manual processes, and delivering clear, actionable information to shape the future of human-machine interaction in aviation through research-driven design. ### Senior UX Designer @ Microsoft Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Redmond Collaborated with content owners to re-envision an inconsistent and outgrown employee portal for standardizing purchase contracts with vendors.
