Hi! I'm Abhas, a Staff Product Designer at iNaturalist with 7+ years of experience designing and leading mobile apps that help millions connect to nature. I'm the Product Owner and Product Designer of Seek (13M+ downloads, 4.8⭐) and the Product Designer of the new iNaturalist app (launched April 2025, 500K downloads, 4+⭐), both of which use on-device AI to identify species and help anyone spark curiosity and build empathy for the natural world.

Currently leading cross-platform design for iNaturalist’s flagship mobile app (500K+ downloads), bringing together vision, product strategy, and cross-functional alignment across AI, engineering, and leadership.

• Led the complete redesign of iNaturalist mobile, unifying fragmented iOS, Android, and web flows into one intuitive app (launched April 2025, 4+⭐ App Store).
• Implemented a user segmentation framework now used org-wide to prioritize feature development across casual and power user segments.
• Drove alignment across AI/CV, engineering, and leadership teams through iterative research, design reviews, and product planning cycles.
• Overhauled the app’s design system and typography to improve localization, accessibility, and consistency across platforms.

Product owner and sole designer for Seek by iNaturalist, a real-time AR-powered nature ID app with 13M+ downloads and a 4.8⭐️ rating, built in partnership with Netflix and WWF.

• Led product & design from concept to global scale; improved UX rating from 3.2⭐️ to 4.8⭐️ through full redesign and gamified onboarding.
• Designed AR-based species ID system using real-time camera feedback and taxonomic overlays to improve clarity and spark learning.
