Building ML datasets, running training/evaluation pipelines and working on various storage needs, dataset schema and efficient loading and training with large datasets. Previously, tech lead and manager for localization at Aurora doing Lidar based localization against HD maps and inertial navigation with IMU and wheel encoders. ### Senior Software Engineer II @ Uber ATG Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 Highway driving with trucks: I work in the trucks team for driving on highways. Due to the confidential nature of the work, I cannot publish a lot of details. AV Maps: The AV Maps team is responsible for producing the high definition maps needed for autonomous vehicles. This involved data collection, processing data to build localization and perception priors, ensuring quality checks, and an efficient work flow for humans and machines. Vehicle Utilization: Worked on operator tools and metrics to monitor and improve autonomous vehicle utilization. ### Senior Software Engineer II @ Uber Jan 2014 – Jan 2017 | San Francisco Bay Area India Growth: Our team was the one that introduced cash payments at Uber which has now become the dominant payment method for emerging markets. Worked on various India specific features such as auto-rickshaws, fare adjustments for Indian regulations, wallet solutions. Was able to dive into multiple code bases from marketplace, fares, to iOS and Android to get India specific features out. Worked closely with product managers and operation teams to brainstorm and drive ideas for growth in India. Team saw Uber grow from a minuscule player to a dominant one in India. Driver Growth: Worked on driver funnel, tracking metrics and conversions. This involved a combination of web frontend, backend and mobile work. ### Founder @ blippy Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 | San Francisco Bay Area Mobile Communication Apps: I was the co-founder and CTO of blippy (see https://crunchbase.com/person/abhay-vardhan and https://crunchbase.com/organization/blippy-gifs). We raised Series-A, and grew the team to 8 people. We worked on various mobile communication app and got some traction but ultimately it was not enough to justify growing the business. The experience really honed my product thinking and my entrepreneur skills and professionally was one of the best periods of my life. Listed below are the various apps that we worked on. Voice Messaging App: We built an intuitive app for iPhone and Android where users could tap a button and send quick voice messages. At peak we had more than a million users. Voice Broadcasting App: The next app we built was a public version of the voice messaging app where users could follow others. We grew a very engaging community around the app but could not grow the user base substantially. Video Curation and GIF messaging: Built a Pinterest like curation app and a messaging apps centered around sharing GIFs ### Member of the Technical Staff @ BloomReach Jan 2009 – Jan 2011 I was the first employee at BloomReach, an early-stage SAAS search startup. I architected and developed pieces of the core initial technology which has been launched into various successful products at BloomReach. ### Manager and Tech Lead @ Google Jan 2006 – Jan 2009 At Google, I was part of the Search Quality team which works on the core search results for Google. This enabled me get deep search experience and gave me an opportunity to manage large scale systems of thousands of servers.
