Air Traffic Management is one of the many topics researched at NASA. One of the software platforms used for this research is the Center TRACON Automation System (CTAS). The CTAS provides ground-based air traffic control to all the flights in US airspace. One of the CTAS modules called the Trajectory Synthesizer (TS) computes an aircraft’s trajectory prediction.
