I am currently the area tech-lead of Meta's Backup and Cold Storage Services. My current focus is data safety that ensures data from Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, AI efforts and other critical information are safe and available when needed.  I oversee two main services; backups @ scale for all user data, and multi-EB datasets, as well as a critical 0-dependency storage service for critical infrastructure.

Before Meta, I worked at Amazon/AWS focusing on Network Anti-DDoS efforts (a.k.a. AWS Shield and Perimeter Protection).

Before, I've been at Google since 2010. I led the Google Message Security (GMS) product (formerly known as Postini email filtering service), as a part of our Enterprise service offerings. Later, I was a part of the Core Data Acquisition, Processing and Analysis Department, working on the Logging Infrastructure; the largest structured data warehouse in the world. I was leading the Data Durability front for Google Logs.

I finished my PhD degree in Computer Science from DePaul University in 2010. I held a Lecturer position at Alexandria University, Egypt as well as in DePaul University in Chicago. Also, I am co-founder of eSpace, a leading software house in Egypt, HQ in Alexandria, EG.
