# Ahmad E. > Software Engineer - Surgical Robotics @ J&J Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ahmade Passionate about anything that has to do with software, embedded systems, computer vision, robotics, medical devices, and autonomous vehicles. Always looking to learn and expand my horizons. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Johnson & Johnson Jan 2024 – Present | Santa Clara, California, United States Developing safety critical software for surgical robotics. ### Software Engineer @ Faction Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco Bay Area • Developed C++ code for autonomous vehicles (localization/state estimation/steering/safety) on an Nvidia Jetson Linux platform. Adhered to Agile development practices. Performed on-vehicle code testing in the field. • Took ownership of the design and implementation of a curve detecting speed planner (deployed on all fleet vehicles). • Developed a software module which integrated positional localization along with corresponding safety mechanisms. Utilized C++ Boost libraries as well as a REST API. ### Software Developer @ General Motors Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area Took ownership of a critical production application which manages the daily movement of millions of customer records to a CRM system. Improved application reliability by 60%. ### Engineer @ Avive Solutions Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco, California, United States • Worked on the design, drafting, and initial release of all device/packaging labels for a Class III medical device. • Planned/implemented/validated the transition to a new cloud storage system to address limitations and to ensure adherence with FDA regulations. • Researched/Implemented/Validated a backup solution to satisfy FDA requirements (i.e., 21 CFR 820). Successfully closed a Corrective and Preventive Action by implementing the solution. ### Engineering Intern @ Avive Solutions Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco, California, United States • Worked on the design, drafting, and initial release of all device/packaging labels for a Class III medical device. Performed research, analysis, and coordination with suppliers. • Upgraded internet services, resulting in improved connection stability and lower costs • Optimized electrical PCB component usage by reducing the number of components (~25% reduction). • Prepared, collected, and organized specification sheets for electrical components ### Autonomous Vehicles Research Intern @ University of Southern California Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Los Angeles, California Encoded autonomous vehicle navigation rules from a highly cited paper into STL (Signal Temporal Logic). Applied control engineering principles to build a vehicle model and utilized an in-house MATLAB STL validation framework to test the navigation rules via simulations. Gave a final presentation and prepared a 40-page LaTeX research summary to summarize findings. ### Research Intern @ University of Minnesota Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area Koester NanoDevice Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Project Title: Rectifier device design via ultra wide band gap oxide semiconductors and transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs) Worked in the Koester NanoDevice Laboratory as well as the PAN and Keller clean rooms on an independent research project. Fundamentally, the project involved the planning, design, and implementation of a new rectifier device that could revolutionize high power electronics. The project required me to perform mechanical exfoliation, prepare samples(on various substrates), characterize materials, perform Raman spectroscopy, perform optical microscopy, build hetero-structures, and oversee electronic device testing as well as device fabrication. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Engineering San Francisco State University ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Electrical Engineering San Francisco State University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/a33251 - Portfolio: http://ahmadelshakoushy.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/ahmade JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ahmade/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
