# Ainur Ainabekova > Software Engineer at Story Health Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ainur I started coding since I was 14 years old, and I never had regrets about choosing Computer Science as my field of study. I've been lucky to be surrounded by the smartest students from different parts of Kazakhstan at Nazarbayev University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I had a great honor to be a commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony on behalf of my school due to high academic achievements and achievements as a basketball player of university’s intercollegiate team. Later, I went to the graduate school in United States to learn more about my field in one of the top research universities. That led me to work as a research assistant in the Microsoft Jim Gray Systems lab, where I worked on the problems at the intersection of databases and deep learning. In my free time I like to do windsurfing, surfing, skiing, dancing tango, enjoying concerts and music festivals. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Story Health Jan 2020 – Present ### Graduate Teaching Assistant @ University of Wisconsin-Madison Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | Madison, Wisconsin, United States Assisted professor in teaching a class on Compilers and Programming Languages which had more than 90 students by being responsible for the following tasks: - Prepared 3 programming projects in Java (using JLex, Java CUP) that focus on building different parts of a compiler for the language subset of C, 5 written homework assignments related to general compiler topics - Wrote shell scripts for automated grading of projects - Provided help throughout the semester to students with solving their assignments, held weekly office hours, answered questions via Piazza - Proctored and graded exams ### Graduate Teaching Assistant @ University of Wisconsin-Madison Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Madison, Wisconsin, United States Assisted professor in teaching a graduate level course on Big Data Systems by doing the following: - Developed programming projects for students to learn how to deploy and configure big data frameworks such as Apache Hadoop, and how to write applications in Apache Spark and Tensorflow that ran in a distributed mode; - Graded students' reviews of the most important research papers in the field of big data systems; - Graded programming projects and reports on benchmarking the performance of the distributed applications. ### Graduate Teaching Assistant @ University of Wisconsin-Madison Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Madison, Wisconsin, United States Implemented solutions of the programming assignments in Java for the Artificial Intelligence course: - object detection in images using HOG features; - computing bigram and trigram models using a movie script dataset; generating sentences using trigram model; - K-means clustering on images; - solving mazes using iterative deepening search and A* search; - applying genetic algorithms to play the Flappy Bird game; - Alpha-Beta pruning algorithm for computing optimal strategies for the Tic Tac Toe. ### Graduate Teaching Assistant @ University of Wisconsin-Madison Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Madison, Wisconsin Area Assisted professor in teaching a Software Security course of more than 100 students.
