Lead a team of 3 graduate students implementing a new safety-critical Java standard. Supervised the work but also actively contributed to the development of the VM, TCK, benchmarks, and additional tool support based on Java 7 annotations. After joining the project, we optimized the VM and achieved 30% performance improvement and deployed the system both on x86 and SPARC-based embedded platforms. We regularly compared the performance of our VM with RT GC-based VMs, RTSJ VMs, vanilla VMs. Responsible for communication with the Expert Group developing the standard.
