# Alexander Wurts > Eng at Coworker.ai | 2x Founding Software Engineer Location: Greater Boston, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/alexanderwurts I'm a software engineer with a passion for building products that make a real impact. With a background in Computer Science and Data Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, I've worked across the full stack—from deep learning models to mobile apps to scalable backend systems. Currently, I'm helping build the future of AI-powered productivity tools at Coworker.ai. Previously, I led mobile development at The Routing Company, scaling transit apps from zero to 100k+ trips. Outside of coding, I'm a licensed private pilot who trained at Hanscom Airport. I believe the best engineers are also lifelong learners, and I try to share what I learn through articles and posts. ## Work Experience ### Founding Software Engineer @ Coworker.ai Jan 2022 – Present | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Apps Tech Lead @ The Routing Company (formerly Routable AI) Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Boston, MA Founding team member that started and lead a team of 6 engineers to build driver and rider apps from scratch to 1k daily users and servicing 100,000+ trips. Worked in a fast pace sprint team environment across the entire stack including Kubernetes, Docker, Go Lang, Flutter, and React. Designed and developed significant portions of the companies backend code base, and connected them to the company dashboard, and mobile applications. ### MQP Research Student @ MIT Lincoln Laboratory Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Lexington, MA Tauopathies are hypothesized to be a primary cause of Alzheimer's disease. Labeling tau in whole slide images is a task requiring high expertise and lots of time. Project successfully developed a Deep Learning solution to segment and quantify important cells in brain scans. It will save doctors many ours of work and enable future quantitative research on the results. Utilizes PyTorch on MIT's supercomputer for preprocessing, training, and evaluating models. ### Artificial Intelligence/Deep Learning Intern @ MIT Lincoln Laboratory Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Lexington, Massachusetts Researched person re-identification in camera surveillance systems. Implemented state of the art deep neural network models and modified them to work in given environment. Used a supercomputer to train and evaluate many data set and model configurations. Developed innovative image labeling application using deep neural network which reduced the amount of time to label a dataset by five times. ### Software Engineer Internship @ Olympus Corporation of the Americas Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Waltham, Massachusetts Designed and developed a website to visualize metrics produced by a company product. Implemented an interface that let users set rules to predict when a device would fail, so the company could respond accordingly. Created a REST API for the backend, to provide a portable solution that could eventually be used across many platforms. Build with React stylized with Material UI for the frontend and Nodejs, Expressjs, and MongoDB for the backend on top of the Microsoft Azure environment. ### Intern @ Busek Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 AI and Machine learning with goal of identifying and labeling certain items from live video feed. Successful prototype made, and tested before end of Internship. Various organization tasks, and development of a user interface application to transfer meta data on various electrical parts to a local part database. ## Education ### Bachelor's degree in Major in Computer Science and Minor Data Science Worcester Polytechnic Institute ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/alexander-wurts - GitHub: https://www.github.com/ajwurts --- Source: https://flows.cv/alexanderwurts JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/alexanderwurts/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-28
