Member of a small team of engineers investigating low-cost, home-based robotics. The primary source of cost savings is shifting the computing power from the robot to the cloud, which requires distributed versions of localization, mapping, vision, and other robotics techniques. My contributions to this endeavor included:
• Deployed an object recognition service to extract relevant information from images captured by the robots.
• Improved the localization of the robot by implementing the RANSAC algorithm to detect walls from point-cloud data.
• Contributed to, and upgraded the existing robot UI, in addition to building a separate debugging UI for the vision capabilities.
