I worked as an Android developer on the project, being responsible for the design and implementation of the back-end systems. Those include, - Data representation, initially beginning with a SQLite based system but then migrating to direct object serialization. - Data interface, mainly building off of the ReactiveX library which allowed for abstraction of data into immutable streams, allowing for smoother handling especially when an asynchronous call is required. ### Technical Consulting Engineer, Game Developer @ Intel Jan 2015 – Jan 2015 | Santa Clara, California I worked as an intern under the title of technical consulting engineer. I was specifically hired to do game development for the Intel XDK team. I was mainly responsible for building a series of tutorials on how to build a simple game, Snake, in HTML5 using the Cocos2d engine on the Intel XDK. Along with that, I was also given the task of building a game that took advantage of the RealSense camera on the Intel XDK, using its JavaScript API. I also represented Intel at the Android Developer's Conference, manning the booth for the Intel XDK. ### Co-Founder, Software Engineer @ Upward Automation Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | San Luis Obispo, California Area Upward Automation is a home-automation technology company with the goal of creating the smart home of the future. Our product the Upward Home, consists of a hub device connected to a suite of sensors that allow it to process information realtime, as well as use historical data to tune your home environment to your needs. I helped found Upward Automation with six other students from my university. We were accepted into the SLO HotHouse Accelerator program, and given an office space, a modest sum of money, and entrepreneurial mentoring and allowed to develop our idea for a summer, and then for an indeterminate time afterwards in their follow up incubator program. I personally worked as a software engineer, designing and building out our statistical analysis module of the UpwardOS using test-driven development methods. I programmed in Google Go, and was responsible with making sure that the module was both highly concurrent and highly scalable. ### Technical Artist @ Present Creative LLC Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | San Francisco Bay Area I worked as a intern, mainly doing technical art on several game projects contracted out to Present Creative. I was mainly responsible for formatting the art assets provided to me by the artists to a specification, or producing art assets that required mostly technical knowledge. This could be anything from a simple resolution change, to adding a the same feature to a series of different art assets. In one instance, I had to process a couple dozen images of guns to look like they were in a gun case. I mainly used the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator). ## Education ### Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo ### Balboa High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/nothisisalex --- Source: https://flows.cv/alexling JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/alexling/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
