# Alphonso Sensley II > Software Engineer | Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit | Building thoughtful mobile experiences | 8+ yrs shipping apps Location: Alameda, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/alphonso I am an iOS Software Engineer with nearly a decade of professional software development experience, including 8 plus years building and shipping iOS applications in Swift, UIKit, and increasingly SwiftUI. At Bank of America, I help build and maintain the consumer iOS app used by more than 30 million customers. My work spans the full product lifecycle, from early concept and technical design through implementation, iteration, and release. I collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across product, design, and engineering to deliver high-quality mobile experiences that meet both user needs and business goals in a fast-moving Agile environment. One of the most meaningful projects in my career was helping drive the 2019 redesign of the Bank of America iOS app, where I contributed to modernizing the experience and converting roughly 50,000 lines of legacy Objective-C code to Swift. That work strengthened my foundation in large-scale app architecture, modernization efforts, and shipping changes responsibly in a mature, high-traffic codebase. Before Bank of America, I worked with YouMap as a freelance iOS developer, where I helped improve onboarding flows and build updated user-facing screens in close partnership with UX and UI stakeholders. That experience sharpened my product thinking and reinforced the importance of building software that feels intuitive, polished, and useful. I’m also deeply hands-on outside of work. As part of my self-taught path into iOS development, I designed, built, and launched personal apps to the App Store, including Speak Weather and Alameda County Crime Tracker. Through those projects, I worked across UI design, programmatic Swift development, location-based features, and mapping experiences using CoreLocation and MapKit. I’ve also worked with CocoaPods, Swift Package Manager, and am continuing to deepen my work in SwiftUI, modern Apple frameworks, and thoughtful product craftsmanship. What excites me most is building mobile products that are technically strong, user-centered, and thoughtfully designed. I’m especially interested in iOS roles where I can contribute to product quality, collaborate with strong teams, and keep growing as an engineer at the intersection of technology, design, and user experience. ## Work Experience ### iOS Software Engineer @ Bank of America Jan 2018 – Present | San Francisco, California • Planned, coded, and wrote Unit/UI tests for new features in the Bank of America iOS App, enhancing user experience for over 30 million users. • Refactored legacy Objective-C codebase to Swift, improving maintainability and performance. • Collaborated with design and QA teams to ensure seamless integration of Merrill Lynch Investment app features into the Consumer app. ### A* Member @ /dev/color Jan 2019 – Present | San Francisco, California Dev/Color is the “strongest network of black software engineers in existence.” The A* program creates environments to empower black software engineers to help one another grow into industry leaders. ### Tech Prep Rising Innovator @ Tech Prep Rising Innovators Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 Accepted into Tech Equity Collective's Tech Prep program.
