# Amish Shah > Software Engineering Lead / Architect / Manager Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/amishshah Building complex products on a different platforms, distributed systems, cloud software, mobile devices applications, web services, service oriented architecture, web applications, programming, availability, scalability, etc. Great at building complex systems incrementally and quickly. I have a knack for looking at complex systems, understanding the pieces and the whole. I have a "do whatever it takes" attitude of getting things done. Love learning new technologies. My preferred role is as an Architect or Senior Individual Contributor that has some degree of design and responsibility as well as ownership of some piece of code. I like to keep my hands in the code so I stay current with whatever I'm working on, as well as with developing technologies. The balance of architecture and coding can vary depending on the project size and current needs. It's not about the title or the size of the company, it's about how interesting the work is, and what I get to do. Some Achievements: 1. A distributed cloud and mobile application system - content delivery system that supports delivery of DRM protected encrypted content to clients which supports millions of clients, synchronization and sharing of user activity, and enterprise based provisioning. This includes a data pipeline which currently processes millions of analytics events for these students per day. 2. An education tailored tablet that raised many challenges (WebOS/ChromeOS style, pen, very large screen with very limited RAM) 3. Content editing and scheduling platform for Yahoo! ▬▬▬▬▬▬ TECHNICAL SKILLS Languages: Java, C++, Python, Objective C, PHP, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML Operating Systems/Platforms: Linux, iOS, Android Java: J2EE, Spring, JSP, Hibernate, Struts, JDBC, RabbitMQ, JMS, etc. Servers: Jetty, Tomcat, Apache, etc Persistance: MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra Distributed Technologies: Spark, Elastic Search Other: AWS, Docker, Vagrant, HA Proxy, REST, HTTP, Networking ## Work Experience ### Principal Engineer @ Palo Alto Networks Jan 2021 – Present | Santa Clara, California, United States Developer, Security Posture Management (Cortex Cloud) - Engineered the XSPM scanner to centralize and automate security posture management across the Cortex Cloud platform. - Developed high-throughput batch and inline scanners for CSPM, scaling the service to process billions of assets daily across thousands of global tenants. - Owned the end-to-end lifecycle of rule management and verdict/issue determination engines. - Scaled scanning infrastructure to process billions of assets daily across a global footprint of thousands of customers. AI/ML Infrastructure & Decision Engines - MLOps Orchestration: Architected a robust lifecycle using AWS SageMaker, Lambda, and Fargate, automating training and high-availability prediction endpoints. - Parallelized Decision Engine: Optimized clinical decision engines for inpatient discharge and OR scheduling; transitioned to a parallelized architecture to drastically reduce latency in prediction generation. - Model Observability: Built custom monitoring suites to track model drift, performance, and pipeline health in production. Product Innovation & Full-Stack Leadership - Clinical SaaS Solutions: Developed the backend for hospital operations modules using Python/Django and Elasticache, providing mission-critical endpoints for resource scheduling. - Public Health Response: Rapidly deployed COVID-19 modeling products using Django and Looker to provide healthcare providers with actionable pandemic insights. - Enterprise Reporting: Developed a serverless reporting engine via AWS Lambda to deliver custom analytical insights from Looker directly to care providers' workflows. - Mobile Ecosystem: Led the MVP launch of a real-time hospital operations mobile app (React Native) and its cloud-native REST API. Awards: * Clara Barton award (for exhibiting all company values) * Helping each other succeed award ### Principal Architect @ Intel Corporation Jan 2013 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco Bay Area Architect for Intel Education client applications and cloud SAAS service platform. Highlights: 1. From 2013 onwards, after the acquisition, further developed our software services and platform to delivered textbook and media content to hundreds of school districts, mostly in USA, but also in Europe. 2. Conceived, designed and lead a team to build a classroom media server and platform changes to our cloud/clients to deliver DRM protected content to a class. The media server could be provisioned from the cloud and acted a smart caching layer so each student gets their own book, taking DRM licensing into account. This solution enabled classrooms that have bandwidth limitation or that are not connected normally to obtain content and state intermittently when a connection is available. 3. Helped scale our data pipeline to handle > 10 million events per day using Kafka, Spark Streaming and Cassandra. ### Principal Architect / Principal Software Engineer / Team Lead / Development Manager @ Kno (acquired by Intel) Jan 2009 – Jan 2016 | Santa Clara Second Engineer at Kno. Architect and senior principal engineer for Kno mobile applications and cloud content platform. This includes - content delivery platform, web-based reader, ecommerce engine, DRM, etc and mobile textbook reader applications built on iOS, Android and Windows. Highlights: * Led architecture, design and implementation for several Software-as-a-service products including - Enhanced Content tool - lets publishers add a layer of additional content to text books without having to modify their textbooks, and deliver these to offline clients - Kno for Web - web based reader app - Kno for Schools - allows administrators to manage allocation and distribution of textbooks within a district/school/section. - Kno for Classroom - student response system and activity manager for classrooms * Lead the team to develop the first release of the the iPad Textbook reader client application. This first release was done in 5 months. * Honored with the first Iron man award from the company ### Technical Yahoo! @ Yahoo!
