# Andrea Egan > Software Engineer Location: Berkeley, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/andreaegan Experienced Software Engineer committed to striving to make the world a better place. Skilled in Python, data pipelines, and project management. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ San Francisco Digital Services Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineer @ San Francisco Digital Services Jan 2018 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineer and Data Scientist @ Bayes Impact Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | San Francisco Bay Area I served as project manager and tech lead for the claims-based submission pipeline for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid's Quality Payments Program. This pipeline processes over 3 billion claims submitted by 300,000 Medicare providers to quantify the quality of care received by Medicare patients in an effort to prioritize quality of care over quantity of care. In addition to my work with CMS, I helped build a new map-based product to quantify adequacy of insurance networks sold through government exchanges. ### Software Engineer @ Workiva Jan 2015 – Jan 2017 | Boulder, CO Software Engineer on the Analytics Services team. Worked to collect and process standardized, high-quality data. ### Graduate Research Assistant @ University of Colorado Boulder Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Boulder, CO As a researcher in the Center for Integrated Plasma Studies, I analyzed statistical properties of simulations of magnetic reconnection in astrophysical plasmas. I used Python to identify and classify magnetic structures to understand chaotic behavior during magnetic reconnection. As a research assistant in the Hough Lab, I studied biophysical properties of disordered proteins. I grew, purified, and fluorescently labeled proteins for experiments, then measured fluorescence transfer (FRET) to understand binding of Nuclear Pore Complex proteins. In addition, I modeled diffusion of disordered protein through gel in MATLAB. ### Research Assistant @ VERITAS Group at Barnard College Jan 2011 – Jan 2013 I tested gain stability and quantified cross-talk for a multi-anode PMT that will be used in the proposed Cherenkov Telescope Array. ### REU Intern @ National Center for Atmospheric Research Jan 2012 – Jan 2012 | Boulder, CO Research assistant in the LASP REU program for the summer of 2012. Studied MHD properties of solar quiescent prominences. ### Solar REU Intern @ Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 Research Assistant in the Solar Physics REU program in the summer of 2011. Analyzed data from a solar flare numerical model. ### Intern @ Harvest Automation Inc. Jan 2010 – Jan 2010 Researched growers for future expansion, scanned and filed incoming paperwork, maintained outdoor robot testing track ## Education ### Master of Science (M.S.) in Physics University of Colorado Boulder ### Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Physics Barnard College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/andrea-egan - Website: https://github.com/akegan - Website: https://akegan.github.io/ --- Source: https://flows.cv/andreaegan JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/andreaegan/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
