# Andrew Dunn > Director of Product Design at Box Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/andrewdunn Currently @Box, helping companies reimagine and simplify how work gets done - automating complex AI-assisted workflows (think contracts, loan origination, M&A due diligence, clinical trials, and more), and making it easier for teams to collaborate across the tools and processes that run their organizations. What excites me most is finding the opportunity inside complex, entrenched problems - simplifying them, and building products people are genuinely eager to share. ## Work Experience ### Director of Product Design @ Box Jan 2023 – Present | Redwood City, California, United States ### Sr Design Manager @ Box Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 | Redwood City, California, United States ~~ MANAGEMENT & DESIGN TEAM LEADERSHIP ~~ • Responsible for initiatives across multiple product areas: E-commerce, Product Adoption, Box Sign, Content Automation (Box Relay), Box Platform, Integrations, and new strategic initiatives, which included ~9 designers, ~20 product managers, ~100 engineers. • Actively managed 5 designers - in office, remote, and international ~~ MATURING AND SCALING OUR DESIGN ORG ~~ • Developed materials and published our JIRA design team's project management process. • Alongside other design leaders, implemented and standardized our process across the product and design org (80+ people). • Consolidated over a dozen team meetings into weekly team planning and design reviews, reduced total meeting time by ~2 hours a week per designer and "ad hoc" requests by ~80%. • Enabled teams accelerate their creative processes, operate 8-12 weeks ahead of engineering, and afforded extra time to ideate, validate designs, or support other product areas. • Recruited, hired and helped to scale the design team from 9 to 21 • I presented a case to executive leadership and garnered funding for user research. Partnering with business analytics, product managers, and design leaders, we were able to capture and catalog a variety of user data and qualitative insights to develop a story of what users are saying, what they are doing, and how those dimensions have influenced product adoption and retention. ~~ TEAM LEAD FOR BOX SIGN (1 to 2 project) ~~ • Worked alongside executive leadership to evaluate and acquire an e-signature solution. • Lead a team of 2 designers to rebuild, redesign, and integrate the acquired product in 7 months. • Responsible for design resource strategy, design operations and program management, UX strategy, user research, competitive research, design jams (white boarding workshops), and the design execution of the Sign management experience and integration into Box. ### Staff Product Designer @ Box Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Redwood City, California, United States ~~ LEAD DESIGNER FOR BOX RELAY (1 to 2 project) ~~ • Partnered with senior product and engineering leaders to define, design, and validate/test an 18 month roadmap for Box Relay (a content automation, business process, workflow product). • Drove a 2.6x increase in enterprise adoption, 6x increase in ARR, 6x increase in monthly active users, and 7.5x increase in activate automations. ~~ LEAD DESIGNER FOR PRODUCT ADOPTION (0 to 1 project) ~~ • Partnered with product and business analytics to analyze the adoption funnel, map the first time user journey, define user segments, apply multiple product adoption frameworks, review competitors, and facilitate workshops to develop product and design strategy. • Focused on driving "day 1 activity," we developed an all new welcome experience to help users learn about Box, a check list to guide setup, empty states to orient users, and an announcement feed to drive continued awareness and engagement. • Reduced first time sign in bounce rate by 24% and drove a 15 point increase in 60 day retention. ~~ DESIGN TEAM LEADERSHIP ~~ • I drafted a framework for our team's design process and partnered with another design leader to implement a JIRA workflow to track and manage all design dependent initiatives.
