Built a graph to visualize rings of fraudulent companies
- Within the first week, the graph helped catch a micro-deposit fraud scheme costing thousands of dollars
- Used Ruby on Rails to query data and D3 for visuals    
- Retrieved data efficiently from a table of 400 million records  

Improved existing fraud detection systems
- Implemented tracking of historical data for over 100,000 users
- Identified and fixed 2 major flaws, making the system more accurate

### Software Engineering Intern @ Piper, Inc

Main developer for a coding-educational tool for kids, used in over 300 elementary schools
	- Made from scratch in React & TypeScript
	- Created a content-creation tool in Go with a complete test suite
	- Helped align tutorial content to match California's computer science standards

Wrote firmware in C to allow a computer with a USB port to control an LED matrix accessory
	- Used a state machine to process USB serial messages
	- Designed a custom protocol for sending commands

Made a Twitter bot in PHP that processed hundreds of tweets and user biographies per minute
	- Created a dashboard for internal use, where users could define criteria for the bot to follow users and retweet and like tweets

Optimized the main website's critical rendering path and assets, reducing load time from 4 seconds to under 1 second on initial load
	- Removed redundant scripts and allowed remaining scripts to lazy-load, resulting in the user being able to see text content almost instantly
	- Used Google Chrome's network-waterfall view to analyze asset load time
	- Used compression tools to shrink asset sizes down over 50%

Built a logging and analytics service in PHP
	- Developers can sift through user logs and view errors
	- Project managers can view statistics like average user play time and filter by date 
	- Data is uploaded through a REST API and stored in a MySQL database

Created an API and admin dashboard for Piper Universe, a platform where thousands of kids share their favorite sounds, videos, and pictures from the Piper game
	- The game uploads the data through a REST API
	- Content is approved manually through a dashboard I made

Made a custom URL forwarding tool
	- Connected all owned domains to the tool
	- Added the ability to overlay custom content and block certain scripts on the forwarded page

Iterated on different website designs and implemented the final one
	- Website was made using the LAMP web stack
	- Customers are sent confirmation emails and drivers are sent an email with booking info
	- Added a simple JSON-based coupon system for owners to create time-limited coupons for certain services

Created a website for users to schedule dry cleaning pickup and delivery
	- Drivers could view and accept orders
	- Allowed users to pay using credit and debit cards using the Braintree payment platform
	- Implemented standard security practices, no serious issues found during pentesting

Setup a Linux environment to run the server
	- Setup a domain and SSL certificate
	- Deployed the website using Apache and MySQL
	- Installed and configured a Postfix email server
