My role at Dropbox was as an internal tools engineer working on the apps that let Dropboxer's get to work. This includes many of the apps that the company leans on daily. From the internal social network, to the surprisingly complex apps that powered the Tuckshop, to a platform to create and award internal badges. Those are just a few of the dozens of apps that started as an idea and fleshed out during one of Dropbox's hackweek's and it was my job to maintain, improve, and future proof these fresh home cooked platforms.
This role was quite extensive, with apps ranging from 1-7 years old with different frontend's on a central Python/Django backend being served by AWS. Aging libraries and components would need constant work and improvement. It was my job to maintain these core internal apps and at times convert them to Typescript for further stability and scaling for future developers.
