# Andrew Novotny > Product Designer at Hashicorp-IBM Location: Santa Clara, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/andrewnovotny I'm an Enterprise Product Designer, transforming complex problems with strict security, legal, and technological constraints into simple solutions. I’ve spent over 7 years designing for Healthtech, Dev Tools, Fintech, IT, Cloud, & Project Planning Tools. My strengths lay in system thinking and fostering alignment across departments and leadership so we're all headed toward the same north star. I'm fiercely collaborative with PM and Devs to ensure we're all aligned and engaged; silos aren't for me. I also believe in the power of humor and being a lil goofy so ya know, there’s that too. I have a Master's dual-degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon and Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute in Portugal. I have a background in Cognitive Psychology, Visual Cognition, and Cognitive Science. On the side, I mentor junior designers. I worked on several DevOps products, the core of my work was designing Azure Build Health (ABH), a portal that allows developers and Release Managers to view all relevant information for their releases in a single pane of glass to increase their releases' quality and stability to reduce Azure service outages. My work had high org-wide visibility and received praise from Azure's EVP each of the 3 times its was presented in deep dive informational sessions. Some highlights: Created and scaled a self-service onboarding portal to allow service teams to onboard their data onto the platform, replacing the old process which required a full white glove onboarding experience taking 1 month per team, increasing adoption of the platform to grow from 44 teams to over 1,500. Re-designed ABH's navigation structure to be flexible to match our customer's diverse data pathways, enabling 20 teams of 100 or more people each to onboard onto Azure Build Health, decreasing the likelihood of outages cause by code changes, saving Microsoft 500+ million a year. Math: https://chatgpt.com/share/67adf4a2-db84-800b-8282-0a14e25c9ef9 Designed a build comparison view to allow users to see code regressions reducing time spent examining regressions by 30%. Co-Designed a code release summary form autogenerated by Copilot, Microsoft's AI, saving release managers ~30-45 minutes per code release, a bi-weekly task. I led 2 product vision demo videos that were presented during deep informational dives and were shown to the CEO of Microsoft, highlighting how ABH helps Microsoft achieve their product, financial, and business goals. ### Sr. Product Designer @ ServiceNow Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Seattle, Remote As a part of the Strategic Portfolio Management team, I worked on the Alignment Planner Workspace, creating experiences for the complex nature of planning, prioritizing, and organizing work items. I made a dependency creation feature from low fidelity to production, allowing users to link planning items in their roadmaps. I partnered with the lead staff designer to design a workforce capacity management tool. ### Sr. Product Designer @ MedBridge Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 | Greater Seattle Area As the solo designer of the patient engagement toolsuite, I crafted product ecosystems for medical providers to engage more effectively with their patients. These products increased the quality of care patients receive and made providers more efficient, lowering their operating costs. I managed two designers for the last year while there. I drove the end-to-end design process: including product strategy, forming my research plan & executing upon it, and the UX & UI Design, all while collaborating heavily with PM, Dev, presenting to C-level execs and clients of health orgs of both local and global size. Some of the products I worked on: MedBridge's Home Exercise Program Builder, the MedBridge Go Patient mobile app, and led the design of MedBridge's Telehealth product from MVP to launch and beyond. Because these products are integrated into EMR’s and hold PHI, I worked with many technical, security, & legal constraints to create great user experiences. ### UX Designer II @ Microsoft Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Redmond As part of the commerce management team, I created experiences for the Windows Store for Business and Microsoft Administrator Portal. Working with multiple project managers, I owned the design of the entire billing experience to create a seamless experience for several multinational business personas across numerous touchpoints, reducing billing related support calls by 10%. I worked on the customer benefits area and the quoting, cart, and checkout experiences for enterprise customers. Additionally, I contributed to the fluent design system, increasing the efficiency of our work. ### UX Designer @ T-Mobile Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Bellevue, WA Working with the engineering team I brought design methods & thinking to T-Mobile’s culture, giving the company the ability to create products proactively that reflect their users needs. On a cross-platform design team, I spear-headed creating personas to better define product features and use cases. I design products for iOS and work with the Android and Web teams to ensure consistency across the experiences. I also helped create a style guide for the iOS products to create a consistent feeling across applications for a cohesive, singular feel for the T-Mobile brand. ### UX Designer @ Azuqua Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Seattle Area At Azuqua, a cloud software workflow automation platform, I researched & designed the dashboard for individual workflows. I re-designed the experience of how the user views the history of executions that run through their FLOs. I also designed emails for error alerts for users and created a new ( If/Else/ Else if ) branching card for use in the Azuqua FLO builder. ### User Experience Design Intern @ Sharecare, Inc. Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Atlanta, Georgia Designed a cross-platform, cross-application, onboarding experience for a health and wellness engagement platform, spanning multiple devices and user needs. The new onboarding experience personalized to the user’s current needs, as well as showing them the value of Sharecare as a whole to increase signups across the platform. I contributed to Sharecare's style guide and wiki of best UX practices for content. ### UX Researcher & Designer @ Mississippi State University Jan 2014 – Jan 2015 | Center for Advanced Vehicular Automotive Vehicles With two other researches, I conducted deep research into understanding how people think & interact when driving vehicles. I then used this research to inform the design of the interface of simulated automated ground vehicles (UGVs) to train highly-skilled UGV drivers. (Heavy NDA) ### Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Mississippi State University Jan 2011 – Jan 2014 | Starkville, Mississippi I was a research assistant in a variety of labs: Dr. Hillary Sinclair's Social Psychology lab, Dr. Jarrod Moss's Cognitive Psychology Lab, and Dr. Carrick William's Visual Psychology Lab. In Dr. Sinclairs lab, I designed various psychological studies and surveys, interpreted data, and presented findings and drafted reports at the end of each semester. I also presented a poster at SPSP 2013 in New Orleans. In Dr. William's lab, I helped to develop visual stimuli using photoshop and coded experiments as well as recorded data of participants using eye-trackers. ## Education ### Masters of Human-Computer Interaction in Human Computer Interaction Carnegie Mellon University ### Masters of Human-Computer Interaction in Human Computer Interaction Madeira Interactive Technology Institute ### Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology Mississippi State University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/anovotnyux - Website: http://www.anovotnyux.com --- Source: https://flows.cv/andrewnovotny JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/andrewnovotny/resume.json Last updated: 2026-02-23
