# Andrew Sikowitz > Software Developer Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/andrewsikowitz Github: https://github.com/asikowitz ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Remesh Jan 2019 – Jan 2022 - Led a team of five engineers to integrate with a third-party sample provider, enabling the automation of a previously off-platform workflow handled via long email chains between multiple parties, to shorten a multi-week process to minutes. Created the initial proof of concept, architected the end-to-end integration flow, organized sprints, coordinated with product and QA, served as the team’s technical representative for cross-team communication and design reviews, and mentored junior engineers. - Created a data pipeline using Google Dataflow and Cloud Scheduler, ingesting from multiple PostgreSQL databases, BigTable, and GCS, deidentifying personal data using Cloud DLP, transforming to a denormalized structure, and outputting into a BigQuery-powered data warehouse. Gathered requirements from stakeholders, scoped an MVP and potential extensions, specified access controls, implemented the custom Dataflow template for PostgreSQL migration, and configured the pipeline using Terraform. - Designed and built a seamless SAML 2.0 single sign on (SSO) flow, required to close million-dollar contracts with enterprise companies. Created tooling and documentation for customer service to manage SSO integrations. - Analyzed platform traffic and database usage to determine bottlenecks. Replaced an inefficient Python websocket library with a Go microservice and optimized key database queries, increasing concurrent user capacity 10x while lowering p99 latency for critical benchmarks. - Helped in the rewrite of the entire product, increasing code velocity, fault tolerance, observability, and scalability. Overhauled the database structure, switched the backend from Elixir to Python and the frontend from JS Angular to TS React, and integrated with a new machine learning language model. ### CS 3110 / CS 4780 / CS 4820 Teaching Assistant @ Cornell University Jan 2016 – Jan 2019 | Ithaca, NY Lead a recitation section; hold weekly office hours; design, test, and write solutions for course assignments and exams; assist in grading homework and exams; and answer questions on the class message board ### Software Engineer Intern @ Remesh Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 - Designed and built a Slack app that simulates the core Remesh platform, requiring safe adjustment to the logic of the Elixir backend’s most integral parts. The Slack integration provides a new way to use the Remesh platform, different from the Remesh website, allowing for new marketing strategies and revenue streams. - Created a modular, distributed, asynchronous simulator of user behavior and traffic on the platform, allowing for both testing of different models by the research team and load testing on the backend. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Toast Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 - Aided in the creation of a data reporting and analytics computation cluster, using Apache Spark * Created robust execution queue to asynchronously schedule and execute SQL queries for future retrieval * Wrote and tested numerous API endpoints for secure company-wide interaction with cluster * Helped build multi-step process to move MySQL data into cluster as Apache Parquet files, using AWS Step Functions - Built customer landing page communicating with cluster, using Java Play and AngularJS - Configured Apache Spark cluster to use Alluxio for interaction with remote storage systems, such as Amazon’s S3 ## Education ### Master of Engineering - MEng in Computer Science Cornell University Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Cornell University Jan 2015 – Jan 2019 ### Stuyvesant High School Jan 2011 – Jan 2015 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/andrew-sikowitz-3a5129101 --- Source: https://flows.cv/andrewsikowitz JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/andrewsikowitz/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
