# Andrew Zhang > Software Engineer @ Beacons Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/andrewzhang I graduated from Tufts University's school of engineering with a double major in computer science and mathematics and a minor in music. I have a foundation of C/C++ and Python for coding backend, and HTML/CSS, JavaScript/Typescript and React for frontend work. In my experience, I interned at the MGH Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging for summer 2019, where I coded in both C++ and Python to analyze data on the neural streamlines of the brain and create violin plots for visual comparisons. For summer 2020, I interned at Beacons, where I conducted data analysis and full-stack development to present the data as an interactive React map. For summer 2021, I was a UI engineer for Juniper Networks under the team of 128Technology using React and GraphQL to enhance the user interface. I am now working full-time at Beacons as a software engineer, and I'm excited to work with a passionate team in the content creator space! ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Beacons Jan 2022 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area ### Algorithms TA @ Tufts University Jan 2020 – Jan 2022 | Medford, Massachusetts, United States Teaching Assistant for Comp160 (Algorithms), one of the core requirements of the major. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Juniper Networks Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Burlington, Massachusetts, United States Working with the 128Technology team in React and GraphQL, I've worked on both frontend and backend to enhance the first-time user experience and make the UI simpler to navigate. ### Beacons Intern @ Beacons Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco, California, United States For this startup company, I conducted data analysis with SQL, Firebase, and Python to research how users can best optimize their use of the company product. I then implemented an interactive map with React that displays the user data globally. ### Undergraduate Intern @ The MGH/HST Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Greater Boston Area Integrating existing code from the Freesurfer open source project, I built code in C++ to cluster neural streamlines based on physical location of the endpoints within the brain’s structures. I also compiled visual data in Python to directly compare numerical data between multiple subjects. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science and Mathematics Tufts University Jan 2018 – Jan 2022 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/andrewyaozhang - Website: https://azhang.world - Website: https://beacons.ai/name_a_zhang --- Source: https://flows.cv/andrewzhang JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/andrewzhang/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
