# Aniruddha Murali > Software Engineer @ DoorDash | Georgia Tech M.S. Computer Science (AI/ML) Graduate 🧑‍🎓 Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/aniruddhamurali Software engineer and recent master's computer science graduate from Georgia Tech with experience in software engineering, machine learning, web development, databases, and APIs. Values ownership, collaboration, learning, growth, and innovation. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ DoorDash Jan 2024 – Present | San Francisco, California, United States ### Machine Learning Engineer Intern @ Tremau Jan 2024 – Jan 2024 | Paris, Île-de-France, France Built large language models (LLM) that moderate content and assess how content may violate a platform’s (ex. social media, chat sessions, etc.) guidelines (hate speech, doxing, etc.) with Python, LangChain, OpenAI API, Pandas, Pinecone, Scikit-learn. Researched generative AI methods in content moderation and designed pipelines with Dr. Theodoros Evgeniou. Implementing techniques such as retrieval augmented generation, k-nearest neighbors, prompt engineering, and synthetic data generation. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Amazon Web Services (AWS) Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 | Seattle, Washington, United States Designed and developed Sietch, a data load-balancing backend service built in Java that interacts with various AWS network services and implements event streaming to send over 50 million metrics per second to a Kafka queue to fan-out to services; potentially saves $28k per month, a 47% reduction in cost. Wrote Smithy model that defines service operations, data structures, variables, and HTTP bindings to implement type-safety, helping Sietch to be more secure and efficient. Self-taught multiple internal technologies such as Coral and Smithy. ### Quantitative Strategist Intern @ Goldman Sachs Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Dallas, Texas, United States Developed clustering algorithms for equity derivatives in Goldman’s proprietary language (Slang), leveraging risk data, hierarchical clustering, K-Means, and similarity metrics to produce potential clusters of risk factors that help to streamline the investigation of risk models that underestimate risk and captures risk factor correlational deviation. Implemented backtesting on credit risk models to assess their performance and examine potential issues. Presented work to 5 Managing Directors as well as other senior executives. ### Research Assistant @ Georgia Institute of Technology Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Atlanta, Georgia, United States Worked with Dr. Diyi Yang (Social and Language Technologies Lab). Built machine learning models to predict if a conversation on Reddit is civil or uncivil (Python, BERT). Analyzed 20 million Reddit comments to investigate how different linguistic features (aspersion, provocation, vulgarity, stereotypes, etc.) correlate with civility and affect conversations and how incivility shapes the subsequent participation of the user in a community and opinions about a specific topic. Presented to Meta research scientists. Published research paper “A Crisis of Civility? Modeling Incivility and Its Effects in Political Discourse Online” in ICWSM 2024. ### Research Assistant @ Georgia Institute of Technology Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Atlanta, Georgia, United States Worked with Dr. Jacob Abernethy from Georgia Tech and Dr. Bo Waggoner from University of Colorado, Boulder. Developed website that aggregates, displays and evaluates COVID-19 forecasts from official forecasters and users, using React.js and Bootstrap, data visualization (including drawable chart) with D3.js. Wrote RESTful COVID-19 Aggregator API and automated data collection, processing, and storage of COVID-19 forecast data with Python, Pandas, Flask, MongoDB and Github API. Researched different loss functions for evaluating forecast models. Managed and delegated tasks to team of 10 volunteers from the Coronavirus Visualization Team (CVT). ### Software Engineer Intern @ Capital One Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | McLean, Virginia, United States Developed Neo, a web-based machine learning banking chatbot assistant that can perform intents such as validating accounts and retrieving transactions. Built natural language processing (NLP) models with Rasa to recognize intents and entities in user messages and determine what the chatbot should do next (dialogue management). Wrote Rasa actions that retrieve account data from data orchestrator via GraphQL and formulate responses when the user message indicates a banking-related intent. Created chatbot UI with React.js, react-chatbot-kit, and Bootstrap and displayed customer profiles from AWS DynamoDB database. Deployed application on Jenkins CICD pipeline with Docker container. Presented and demoed chatbot to senior leaders. Leveraged Agile workflow. ### Web Developer @ Bits of Good Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 Developed home page of General Solution, a platform that connects volunteers and donors to nonprofits that work with Bits of Good, using Javascript, ReactJS, Material UI, and Github ### Data Science Intern @ Zenabi Data Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Westport, CT Analyzed Miami Dolphins game data and came up with offensive/defensive strategies that work best for the team using Python. Presented findings to Miami Dolphins coaching staff in Miami, Florida. Built machine learning model (Python, Scikit-learn) and web dashboard (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to predict attendance of an International Champions Cup (ICC) match. Model predicted ~5700 seats closer to actual attendance than ICC’s expectations, which could potentially increase revenue. Data analyzed in Excel and R. ### Research Intern @ Yale University School of Medicine Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | New Haven, CT My research group studied the role of mitochondria and energy efficiency in neurodegenerative disease states, in learning, and in memory formation in healthy brains. We also studied how inhibiting opening of the leak channel in the mitochondria may ameliorate stroke, neurodegenerative and developmental brain diseases. I analyzed images of activity between neurons to collect data for this research project. ### Planning Committee Member and Volunteer @ Maker Faire Westport Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Westport, CT Maker Faire Westport is the first and largest official Maker Faire event in Connecticut and one of the largest events in Westport, CT. I helped organize the 2018 and 2019 Westport Maker Faires, each of which hosted approximately 13,500 attendees and over 200 Makers. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Computer Science Georgia Institute of Technology ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Georgia Institute of Technology ### High School Diploma Staples High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/aniruddhamurali - GitHub: https://github.com/aniruddhamurali --- Source: https://flows.cv/aniruddhamurali JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/aniruddhamurali/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-29
