# Anissa Tran > Fullstack Software Engineer | Frontend Focus | React, Typescript | XP | Early-Stage Startups | US Air Force Veteran Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan Profile: https://flows.cv/anissa Engineer with experience in pre-seed startups, building early-stage products from the ground up. I enjoy collaborating closely to simplify complex problems and create thoughtful, user-centered software. Mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning are central to my engineering approach. Relocating to Tokyo in summer 2026 and seeking engineering opportunities in Japan. 2026年夏に日本へ引っ越し予定で、東京でエンジニア職の機会を探しています。 ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Stealth Jan 2023 – Jan 2026 ### Full Stack Software Engineer @ Highlight Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 ### Senior Frontend Engineer @ Playbook Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 ### Mobile SDK Engineer (Air Force Skillbridge Intern) @ Skillz Inc. Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | United States Immediately after returning from my deployment, I had the amazing opportunity to work with Skillz as part of SkillBridge, the military to civilian transition program working primarily as a React Native developer. Although the experience was only a few months, I was rapidly onboarded and my team of 3 saw the Rewards Calendar feature through from start to finish. ### Lead Software Engineer @ United States Air Force Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 | Nellis AFB, Nevada, United States I trained and mentored seven agile software development teams. When I initially took on this role, I started by completely refactoring our main application with the help of our other lead developer. Handling our growing technical debt was a huge priority for me. I worked Typescript into all our of applications because I believe as our team expands, making it easy to understand our growing codebases and making it hard for a new developer to add something they shouldn't (type-safety is awesome!) is so important. After that was completed, I had the rewarding challenge of onboarding 20 new developers of varying skills(from people that had never opened an IDE in their life, to people that had been coding since they were 10!). I sorted those developers onto 7 different teams and mentored them in their varying roles(PM, Developer, Designer). I had the pleasure of watching our organization thrive while handling everything from training, morale events, to interviews. Needless to say, I was constantly learning something new from this. ### Airborne IT (Deployment) @ Joint Special Operations Command Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Afghanistan ### Full-Stack Software Engineer @ Section 31 Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Santa Monica, California, United States I joined the Metroid team as one of the first three developers while on a 179 day TDY to SMC. We deployed the Metroid app, a replacement for HIET(High interest event tracker). I had the pleasure of witnessing the project's growth from the discovering and framing phase all the way to actual user adoption. It ended up taking us less than 2 months to achieve a continuous ATO thanks to the support we received from Kessel Run's amazing security team. By coding along side the experts at Pivotal Labs, this opportunity helped me realize the value in Agile frameworks for iteratively improving on software projects through continuous user feedback. ### Software Engineer @ United States Air Force Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Las Vegas, Nevada Area This was my first experience in the Air Force as a software developer. During this time period, I collaborated with Crunchy DB engineers to work towards a multi-layer security solution for chat, utilizing Crunchy modules and SELinux net labels. I also developed RESTful api endpoints for oneChat backend using Golang. I worked with the oneChat team through Agile sprints, soliciting feedback from users at CAOC-N during Red Flag. I also developed our newcomer onboarding program for ShOC as well as the interview process for new developers. ### Student IT Assistant @ UC Irvine Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | United States Collaborated with staff to train and deploy 14 websites using Cascade CMS. Additionally, maintained student org databases and accounts. ### iD Tech Overnight Camp Instructor @ iD Tech Camps Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | United States Taught a total of 60 students (ages 10-17) Photon RedBoard and C++ basics with a focus on IoT. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Engineering UC Irvine ### Aerospace Studies UCLA ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/anissa-tran --- Source: https://flows.cv/anissa JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/anissa/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
