# Ankit Gupta > Principal Engineer (AI Networking) @ AMD Pensando Location: Menlo Park, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ankitgupta1 My interests are broadly in the areas of networking and systems. Specifically I’m interested in using software-defined networking as a tool to solve the problems related to network management, and operations. I’m also interested in the problems related to network configuration, and fault tolerance. ## Work Experience ### Principal Engineer @ AMD Pensando Jan 2021 – Present ### Network Engineer @ Meta Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 ### Network Software Engineer (WAN Automation) @ Juniper Networks Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 • Working as Systems Engineer & Software Developer in Northstar WAN SDN Controller Engineering Team. • Working with potential customers, demonstrate SDN controller features, collect customer’s requirements and defines the scope of functional specification to add new features in Northstar Controller. • Prepare LAB running ISIS/OSPF, BGP, MPLS, RSVP-TE, P2MP-TE & SPRING and provide POCs to customers based on their requirements and use cases. Also, engage in troubleshooting sessions with customers in their production or test setup. • Working to develop new features in Northstar controller. Prepare test plan and automate the test cases using Python, Shell & Robot Framework for testing newly added features. • Took an initiative to automate the process of creating on-demand & flexible infrastructure for scale testing by launching vMX routers, Linux machines, traffic generators, Northstar SDN Controller in OpenStack environment using HEAT templates. Currently managing 250 virtual router topology for scale testing of Northstar features. • Contributed to various software development projects such as Ingress/Egress Peer Engineering, adding Netflow v9/10 analysis support in Northstar Controller, REST API development for various analytics features. • Represented Juniper for demonstrating Northstar features in MPLS-SDN World Congress 2018 in Paris. • Actively participate in mentoring programs for summer interns and provide TOI sessions to internal and external professionals. ### WAN Automation Software Engineer-Intern @ Juniper Networks Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 • Worked with Juniper’s SDN-WAN controller team during summer internship. • Developed a virtual Topology Builder Tool and automated the complete process of launching virtual Router topology using Openstack Heat Orchestration Template (HOT) • Tool generates HOT, shell scripts & router configuration files. It launch a topology in Open- stack & pushes the router configuration files. ### Sr. Network Engineer, HTTS-RP/XR @ Cisco Systems Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Bengaluru Area, India • Worked with the HTTS-RP team, where my role was to troubleshoot networking issues for high-value customers’ by recreating their issues over in-house testbeds, performing the root- cause analysis, and providing the appropriate solutions. • Worked on Cisco-wide automation effort using Python— minimizing the h/w fault identification effort, resulting in a reduction of awry hardware replacements. • Developed a Python-based log analyzer automating fault detection in router’s configuration, hardware & identifies any anomaly in unicast & multicast forwarding states. The project was highly appreciated across the verticals & was awarded with the reputed Connect Recognition Award for my effort. ### Tech Lead-IP/MPLS @ Alcatel-Lucent Jan 2010 – Jan 2013 | Bengaluru Area, India Joined Managed Services division, with a role to build a new network troubleshooting team. • Conducted training for 25+ engineers working on ALU’s platform at National Backbone Net- work (NBN), Australia— working on the fibre to the premise (FTTP) project. • Conducted multiple classroom training for more than 300 networking professionals within India— Tata Communications; and Power Grid etc., and outside— Etisalat (Sri Lanka), and NBN (Australia). ### Member Technical Staff at Juniper Advance TAC @ Juniper Networks Inc. Jan 2008 – Jan 2010 | Bangalore Area, India • Joined Juniper’s TAC team which handled networking issues for large carrier networks and enterprise networks. This involved real time troubleshooting in customer’s production network to fix within SLA. • Actively contributed to the Juniper’s KB (Knowledge Base) for network troubleshooting. • Completed Juniper’s JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE Certification. ### Executive Networks @ TATA Communications Ltd. (fka VSNL) Jan 2006 – Jan 2008 | Mumbai Area, India • Joined as a network engineer with the Service NOC (Network Operations Center) team— resolving customer issues within SLA. • Promoted as TAM (Technical Account Manager) within a year— managing network issues for high profile customers of Tata Communications. • To improve Customer SLA, I was assigned with the responsibility of Technical Lead to groom the Tier 1 engineers. ## Education ### Master’s Degree in Computer Science University of Southern California ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/guptaank --- Source: https://flows.cv/ankitgupta1 JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ankitgupta1/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-12
