# Annabelle Platt > Senior Software Engineer at Onshape Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/annabelle ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Onshape, a PTC Technology Jan 2023 – Present ### Software Engineering Intern @ MathWorks Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Natick, Massachusetts, United States At Mathworks I worked with the MATLAB Online team, designing and developing an internal dashboard to display their performance metrics. In my apparently now annual tradition of learning a language on the fly, I learned Javascript and used it to write the dashboard, with an emphasis on documentation and scalability. ### User Experience Designer @ Duro Labs Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 I worked as a user experience design consultant at Duro. I designed and tested new features and conducted extensive user interviews and research. I also did graphic design work, creating iconography and graphics to ensure a cohesive, professional look to the product. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Onshape, a PTC Business Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 In my second summer at Onshape, I worked as a software engineering intern, implementing new features and fixing bugs. I worked primarily with Java, as well as HTML, CSS, and Typescript. I submitted and contributed to code reviews, and learned a lot about code optimization, systematic debugging, and working with Git in a professional environment. ### User Experience Designer @ Onshape Inc. Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 Onshape is a cloud-based CAD platform revolutionizing the way engineers do CAD. At Onshape I worked as a User Experience intern. I worked on improvement requests, analyzing each relevant support ticket to determine the best way to solve a problem and the most common use cases for that feature. I would then use Figma to create mockups, and test them out, both internally on other Onshape employees or interns, and externally on real Onshape users. Based on the test results, I would modify the mockups until I found the best solution. Several of the changes I worked on are currently either in the Onshape product or in development to go out in future releases. At this internship I gained an extensive knowledge of Figma, as well as learned how to conduct user interviews and handle them professionally even when they didn't go smoothly. I also learned about what is really important when designing user experience. For a full overview of what I learned at this internship and my views on UX in general, check out my blog post linked below. ### Education Apprentice @ Ipswich River Watershed Association Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Ipswich, MA Ipswich River Watershed Association is a nonprofit that seeks to protect the Ipswich River and educate people about where their water comes from and how to protect it. During my time there, I designed lesson plans and worked with summer camps and educational groups to teach children and adults about the Ipswich River, water conservation, and stormwater. I also worked on developing the organization’s new website and updating resources about town water systems to make water quality information more accessible to the public ### Intern @ Ocean Alliance Inc Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Gloucester, MA During my sophomore and junior year of high school, I worked with my robotics team to create a laser altimeter integration system for the Ocean Alliance whale research drone to determine its height above the water. I felt the product was unfinished as it was never fully functional, so I went back to complete it for my senior internship. I gained extensive experience using the Arduino IDE, programming microcontrollers, and reading documentation, as well as using OnShape for CAD and 3D printing. ### Intern @ Medtronic Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Danvers, MA I was part of an exploratory engineering internship at Medtronic for women engineers. I learned about managing factory lines, the physical processes through which catheters are made, and created DOEs (Design of Experiments) to optimize settings for catheter development. As part of my final project I utilized an A3 to optimize a production line which I presented at the end of the internship. ### Summer Intern @ Analog Devices Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Boston, MA I worked at ADI's Boston Office, the Analog Garage, building RC cars to use as testbeds for developing autonomous vehicle sensors. I gained exposure to the Robot Operating System (ROS) and an introduction to the challenges and developing solutions of autonomous vehicles. I also wrote Python scripts to interact with ROS and learned to use a Unix system. ## Education ### Franklin W.
