• Responsible for the design and development of furniture, lighting, home decor, holiday, packaging, and jewelry programs
• Programs include products for Roost’s seasonal collections, plus custom designs for large retailers like Anthropologie, Restoration Hardware, and Banana Republic
• Close collaboration with the CEO and merchant team to analyze sales data, identify needs and opportunities, share trend research, build stories, and develop fresh, targeted collections
• Research to maintain knowledge of current trends, innovative fabrication techniques, materials, colors, and finishes
• Quick communication sketching and detailed product illustrations
• Detailed engineering, material, and finish specifications
• Construction of functional prototypes for concept reviews, key accounts presentations, and catalog photography
• Problem solving with vendors and overseas agents to determine cost effective, timely, and high quality solutions to production challenges
• Management of projects with local metal, wood, and electrical shops to build development samples and smaller production runs
• Collaboration with merchants, creative team, and photography to compose product vignettes for in-house product reviews, trade shows, and catalog photography
• Communication with inventory to ensure correct parts from multiple countries are ordered and packaged correctly
• Partnership with QA to review TOP samples and ensure consistent quality throughout production runs
• International travel to product fairs and factories to review sample development, select and alter off-line offerings, design and specify new products on-site, research construction techniques and gain inspiration for future projects
• Close communication with international agents and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality samples.
