# Anson H. > Computer Science at MIT Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ansonh I'm a student interested in algorithms, machine learning, and data science. I enjoy manipulating algorithms to solve challenging problems. My relevant courses include: Advanced Algorithms (graduate level) Advanced Data Structures (graduate level) Applied Cryptography (graduate level) Natural Language Processing (graduate level) Introduction to Machine Learning Computation Structures Introduction to Probability I am ranked Master on codeforces, the largest programming contest website (https://codeforces.com/profile/farmersrice). Currently in top 1.8% of all competitors. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Caldera Jan 2024 – Present ### Member of Technical Staff @ Cohere Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 | San Francisco Bay Area ### Software Engineering Intern @ Jane Street Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | New York, New York, United States ### Software Engineering Intern @ Facebook Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | Menlo Park, California, United States Upgraded logging mechanism to log to databases for easier debugging. Created a tool to construct visualizations of method call trees offline based on historical data. ### Software Engineer Intern @ Okta, Inc. Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 | San Francisco, California, United States Enhanced rate limit logs for debugging purposes. Leveraged Envoy Proxy to direct requests to an authentication microservice, reducing server load and making the system more modular. ### Data Science Intern @ Salesforce Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area Used deep learning to predict future revenue for individual customers. Classified customers into four revenue trends based on usage statistics over the past 12 months using LSTMs. Encoded time series data using a custom autoencoder to facilitate visualization and classification on the latent space. ### Author @ SaltZero -- open source project Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 Created an incredibly strong machine learning bot for Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe based on DeepMind’s AlphaGo Zero paper and inspired by similar open source projects. (Ultimate Tic-Tac-Toe is a complicated variant of tic-tac-toe played on a 9 by 9 grid.) Surpassed human play in 24 hours of training on consumer-grade hardware. Completely open source; code is at https://github.com/farmersrice/saltzero ### Data Science Intern @ Salesforce Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco Bay Area Created pipelines and models to cluster and classify customers according to their usage statistics (e.g. Healthy users, users that have stopped using the product, users with weak adoption etc.). Created natural language processing model to predict win rates of business deals based on notes given by salespeople with high accuracy. Built new model to predict customer conversion based on their actions during trial of the software with 90% accuracy, far superior to original model. ### Researcher @ University of Iowa Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Iowa City, Iowa Admitted to the University of Iowa's SSTP (Secondary Student Training Program) for research. Used Height Above the Nearest Drainage algorithm to help determine extent of flood inundation under guidance of Dr. Ibrahim Demir. Decreased computation time by ~90% compared to previous models. Applied three parameters within the model to allow for adaptation to different flood scenarios. Demonstrated that the HAND model was able to accurately match advanced hydrological models from the Iowa Flood Information System. ### Software Intern @ Celential.ai Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Mountain View, California Created programs to crawl desired job websites. Developed a processing pipeline to parse data and extract useful info, including Job Type and Skills Required, and feed to a machine learning model. Technologies used include Python, Scrapy, Selenium, Git/Bitbucket, Amazon AWS (S3, EC2, SQS), HTML, XPath, JSON. ### National Finalist @ USA Computing Olympiad Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Clemson, South Carolina 1 of 26 finalists invited to study advanced topics in algorithms and data structures based on outstanding performance in USACO Platinum contests. Learned from various lectures taught by professors and graduate students from colleges such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, and Clemson. Camp was fully paid and invitation only. ## Education ### Bachelor of Engineering - BE in Computer Science Massachusetts Institute of Technology ### Dougherty Valley High School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/farmersrice --- Source: https://flows.cv/ansonh JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ansonh/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
