# Anthony Agresta > Senior Software Engineer, Platform/Infrastructure Location: San Diego, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/anthonyagresta I'm the person that people come to when they need help solving weird obscure problems, and I make sure they leave happy. I have an excellent knack for doing a quick deep-dive of a new system or framework, and becoming proficient rapidly. I also have an uncanny ability to rapidly diagnose problems in distributed systems, and considerable experience helping a web application scale rapidly. I love finding the right way to solve an engineering problem, and sharing what I learn with my team. My experience is pretty diverse, but I have a passion for automation, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps. In my spare time, I play piano and work on electronics projects. Programming language alphabet soup follows: Ruby (and Rails), HCL (Terraform), Python, bash, Java, C, SQL(MySQL, PostgreSQL, others), Perl, assembly (x86, ARM, m68k), VHDL/Verilog, C++, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (incl. ES6), React, jQuery Specialties: Cloud infrastructure (AWS) Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) Web application design/framework (Typescript, Ruby on Rails, Jetty, Embedded Jetty) DevOps (GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, Git) Linux System Administration (primarily Debian, Amazon Linux, CentOS and friends) Database Design/Administration Ruby, Python, SQL Embedded systems: Linux Platform Design, Custom Linux distributions, Linux-from-scratch Embedded systems bringup (x86/ARM/PPC, remote debugging with JTAG) Embedded firmware (U-Boot, PC BIOS, UEFI, unmanaged NAND chips) Other experience: Soldering, Arduino & other hobbyist embedded devices Basic digital hardware design/layout Basic VLSI design Google Sketchup 3D Printing/rapid prototyping MS Excel & Word ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer, Platform/Infrastructure @ Prismatic Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 ### Sr. Software Engineer @ MyCase Jan 2018 – Jan 2023 | Greater San Diego Area At MyCase, I've been a big part of our DevOps journey over the past few years. Using tools like Terraform, Docker, and Jenkins, I've helped our software teams develop tools and processes that have taken us from shipping code just once every two weeks, to 3+ times a week. Based on the work I've done, some of our newer services have a fully realized Continuous Delivery pipeline, where all they do to ship to production is merge to master, anytime. We're always looking for ways to get our teams shipping code faster, safely. We're trying to scale our entire Engineering organization without scaling up our dedicated Ops team linearly. Our next big project is to codify our remaining infrastructure with Terraform, and move our older services from long-lived EC2 instances to containers. ### Software Engineer @ MyCase Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 For my first year, I worked on MyCase's Payments team. We built the MyCase Payments Platform, which enables lawyers to accept credit card and eCheck (ACH) payments from their clients. Using a microservice-based approach, we integrated the features of third-party payment processor platforms, and made our business into a Payment Facilitator. I worked closely with our Operations team to help build the architecture that runs our credit card processing microservice. At present, I have joined our Cloud Ops team full-time. We're working to continuously improve the AWS cloud infrastructure that runs MyCase, and enable our development teams to use the latest technology to move fast. ### Software Engineer @ Data Innovations LLC Jan 2012 – Jan 2015 Over the past year, I've worked at DI to build a solid custom Linux distribution, which we currently ship on our small-form-factor hardware platform. Labs use our embedded computers to integrate all sorts of medical devices into one combined system. Recently, I've been working more heavily on the DevOps side of things. I've done some awesome work automating our build systems, and done a lot to help my current team move to a Continuous Integration solution using Ant, Maven, and Jenkins. Along with that, I've worked with the rest of our Java team to build a nice new web API into one of our flagship products, using Embedded Jetty. We've laid the foundation for an excellent new web frontend. Before Dawning got bought by DI, I wore different hats. I did debugging, drivers, and core fixes for our flagship Java app, a lot of database programming/design(PostgreSQL & Hibernate), and most of Dawning's Linux platform/embedded firmware development (filesystem, scripts, Kernel & drivers) on their custom ARM and PowerPC boards. ### Linux System Administrator @ Cisco Systems Jan 2011 – Jan 2011 At Cisco, I kept our segment of R&D's dev machines running, among other things. Hardware maintenance, networking work, and a little bit of development with super-secret new routing software. My priority there was to provide an excellent level of service for the R&D team's developers who work remotely. ### Software Development Intern @ athenahealth Jan 2010 – Jan 2010 At athenahealth, my job was to write customized reporting programs for their clients who needed their data put together in special formats, or wanted to see some of their data that wasn't normally reportable in the UI. Mostly Perl and Oracle work. ## Education ### BS in Computer Engineering Rochester Institute of Technology Jan 2007 – Jan 2012 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/anthonyagresta --- Source: https://flows.cv/anthonyagresta JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/anthonyagresta/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-22
