# Anthony Robertson > Full Stack Software Engineer at NASA Ames Research Center Location: Los Altos, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/anthonyrobertson I design and build software systems that operate in the real world, with a focus on security, maintainability, and scalability. I value simple, reliable solutions and enjoy creating tools that are genuinely useful to the people who depend on them. I am a strong advocate for open-source technologies and pragmatic engineering. Currently, I work within the Human-Computer Interaction division at NASA Ames Research Center. Our team develops planning and scheduling systems for space operations, supporting internal research and analog missions. We provide the communication platform for the year-long CHAPEA analog. Our software also powers the collaborative scheduling system used for the Perseverance Rover on Mars — a mission I’m proud to contribute to. What I bring: Experience integrating software securely with cloud platforms Strong background in microservice architecture and containerization (Docker) Development and operation of reliable web services Analytical problem-solving and debugging Clear, concise technical communication Effective collaboration in agile environments What I’m exploring: Robotics and embedded systems (sensor integration, control, and prototyping) Edge computing and lightweight ML on constrained devices Distributed systems and messaging protocols (MQTT, AMQP) Hardware/software integration workflows (microcontrollers, circuit design, rapid prototyping) Real-time data pipelines and observability Applied computer vision and low-cost sensing systems ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer at NASA Ames Research Center @ San José State University Research Foundation Jan 2020 – Present | Mountain View, CA I work on a team in the HCI Division supporting a scheduling & execution software that is used in analog missions and actual missions. ### Senior Software Engineer @ HERE Technologies Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | Santa Clara, CA I worked on a team building a customer portal for HERE's 'Venues' ( indoor maps ) platform. The project was built with a combination of Drupal 8 and React, integrated with a bunch of internal services. I enjoyed that my role was truly full-stack. I designed a microservice architecture and deployment pipeline, using Docker and Webpack to get everything organized. It integrated with the corporate identity management system and mapped roles to users to control who had access to which content. I also integrated legacy content and site-hosted applications. I also led the integration of React widgets integrated with our Drupal site. This allowed us to build the complex and interaction-intensive interfaces the UX designers presented. I worked on a very well-managed AGILE team and really enjoyed getting to create with such efficiency. ### Full-stack Developer, Ecommerce @ Classic Vacations Jan 2015 – Jan 2018 | San Jose, Ca I developed and maintained classicvacations.com, the booking portal for a luxury travel agency owned by Expedia. It was an ecommerce site built on Drupal 7, blending content from Expedia's CDN with staff-curated information. It supported multi-traveler booking of hotels, flights and transfers by integrating with in-house booking APIs. It was an excellent fit for a CMS like Drupal, which provided ways to handle RBAC and organize the massive amount ( 1700+ hotels ) of information and metadata. Working in the travel industry was interesting. ### Full-stack Developer and Drupal Site Admin @ Blue Coat Systems Jan 2013 – Jan 2015 | Sunnyvale, Ca I helped support a number of Drupal sites which served the company both internally and externally. I worked in the IT department with a bunch of salty guys and became responsible for maintaining several legacy systems and processes. Working in a cyber-security organization was interesting. Blue Coat was later acquired by Symantec. ### Drupal Developer & Front End Designer @ Micello, Inc. Jan 2011 – Jan 2013 | Sunnyvale, Ca. A combination of front-end back-end web development for an exciting, new mapping company called Micello. Most of what I did used a combination of Drupal, Javascript, PHP, jQuery, CSS and the Micello Maps API. ## Education ### BFA in Film Production Chapman University ### Foothill College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/anthonyrobertson --- Source: https://flows.cv/anthonyrobertson JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/anthonyrobertson/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-11
