• Led the development of a highly configurable & extendable live work queue, prioritizing urgent tasks w/ auto-assignment logic – used by 80 brokers daily, increasing on-time clearance performance from 70% to 95%, saving Flexport > $120K annually
(4 month project, mentoring 2 engineers, Ruby/Rails, React, GraphQL, Kafka, Sidekiq)

• Led an initiative to auto-split high volume Commercial Invoice line items, to meet govt Customs guidelines and expand Flexport’s offerings to larger product-volume shipments. This project involved gathering requirements from stakeholders, owning technical design, and managing complexity – to implement this change in a live Kotlin service without causing downtime or unexpected downstream impact. Successful handoff locked in a major client contract.
(1.5 month project, Kotlin, jOOQ, gRPC, Ruby/Rails, Temporal)

• Led PARS/PAPS tracker projects – self-serve tools for Flexport clients, carriers, dispatchers, and truckers to check the cross-border customs clearance status between Canada/US. These are live production tools, featuring a new CANdata integration, actively used by 100s of users daily with 99%+ uptime and success rate of requests. This feature helped Flexport close a deal with a strategic high-volume Canadian client, allowing Flexport to expand cross border offerings.
(1 month project, React, Typescript, Netlify, REST)

• Led cross-team development of next generation Customs Brokerage application. This project required quick ramp up, and daily collaboration with engineers across time zones, working closely with a UX designer to validate product impact.
(2 month project, React/Next.js, GraphQL/Relay)

• Effectively handled on-call rotation, utilizing strong product knowledge developed over 6 months, reducing engineering support tickets from 32 to 6 within 3 days

• Maintained and built new full-stack features in video conferencing web platform, in agile sprints averaging 3 production releases / week

At this job I assisted graduate research in the Systems Lab of the Computer Science Department. While I worked about 8 hours a week here, I designed and developed two android apps to assist the project Diamond - an automated data management platform. I also attended weekly meetings with the Chair Hank Levy, where as a team we developed new project ideas and revised our team's research paper on Diamond. Our team's paper, "Diamond: Automating Data Management and Storage for Wide-area, Reactive Applications" was presented at the OSDI '16 - Operating Systems Design and Implementation, the top operating system conference.
