# Arlo Jamrog > Senior Staff Product Designer at Strava Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/arlo I'm a product design lead based in San Francisco with several decades' experience designing interactive digital things — product and marketing, mobile and desktop. Currently at Strava, where I apply a spectrum of design methods to features around goal attainment and progress, and work on exploring how AI can be applied to product design as a practice and as output. Before Strava, I freelanced for four years as a UX and visual design consultant for clients ranging from Google to two-person startups — mainly Google Ventures portfolio companies. I got my start at KNI (Kurt Noble, Inc), designing and developing award-winning websites and interactive work for major record labels, leading ad agencies, and architecture studios. BFA in Computer Graphics from Syracuse, with a focus on animation and 3D. ## Work Experience ### Senior Staff Product Designer @ Strava Jan 2023 – Present | San Francisco Bay Area Currently focused on progress and training related features, including AI. "CIFF has already cemented itself as the leading U.S. festival in providing its attendees with the winning combination of copious amounts of lobster, autumnal charm and phenomenal film programming." –John Barker, DRAGONSLAYER ### Freelance Interaction and Visual Design @ Freelance Jan 2012 – Jan 2016 | San Francisco Bay Area Helped clients such as Google, GigaOm, Hampton Creek, Farmers Business Network (a GV company), The Font Bureau, Specialized Bicycle Components and Astro Gaming get from an idea to an execution through goal- and task-oriented discovery exercises, visuals and interactive prototypes. Engagements ranged from 4 weeks to 6 months. I focused more on how projects needed to work (frameworks and concepts) than aesthetics (art direction and final visuals). ### Interaction Designer and Front End Web Engineer @ KNI™ Jan 2000 – Jan 2012 | San Francisco Bay Area I was a founding member of the award-winning design and production shop Kurt Noble, Inc (KNI). I designed and built front-end websites for major record labels (MCA, Virgin, Capitol, etc), leading advertising agencies (GS&P, FCB, Saatchi & Saatchi, etc), architecture firms and many more clients. My responsibilities varied but I mainly did functional design (UX) and engineering (frontend and backend), using HTML, CSS, ActionScript, JavaScript, Photoshop, pen and paper. KNI won The FWA's Site of the Year in 2002, many Site of the Month awards, and various other awards and nominations throughout the decade. Select projects include designing and coding the websites for Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, Mary J. Blige, and coding websites for Sprint, Specialized Bicycle Components, Adobe, LucasArts and more. ### Designer & Developer @ CP Web Media Jan 1999 – Jan 2001 | Rockland, Maine This was a summer job during college. I designed and built sites for clients, mainly in HTML, and eventually designed and built the company's site before moving on. ### Front End Developer @ AskERIC Jan 1998 – Jan 2001 | Syracuse, New York R&D group for educational resources within Syracuse University.
