# Armand De Asis > Proficient in Microsoft Word Location: Denver, Colorado, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/armanddeasis ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ Northstar Jan 2021 – Jan 2024 Notable projects include: - Writing the entire US tax code and programming related tax calculators in Ruby (learned a lot about AMT taxation) - Integrating centralized data archiving across all our communications channels including Slack, email, and our homegrown messaging system for FINRA and SEC compliance - Implementing various tools for both clients and financial planners including data visualization interfaces to compare and model tax burden scenarios and health insurance plans based on planned utilization. ### Software Engineer @ Unknown Jan 2020 – Jan 2020 Worked on various client projects, including an inventory display system for a vehicle sales company and data analytics for a research project and eventually published book. Ended up doing a lot of the project management and coordinating efforts with other freelancers. ### Software Engineer @ dscout Jan 2017 – Jan 2019 | Greater Chicago Area I built whatever they told me to, from making UI changes on the existing research data management platform to building and launching a new product for our software suite. dscout is a growing company whose engineering team truly believes on using the best tool for the job, which allowed me to work with a varied array of technologies including React.js, Ruby on Rails, Elixir, GraphQL, WebRTC, the Twilio video and SMS APIs, and 3rd party audio inscription APIs. I was involved in initiatives to incorporate machine learning and user segmentation into the platform, as well as wider platform revisions addressing racial and gender inclusion. Additionally, I made a lot of friends and got to work with some of the coolest and most interesting people I've ever met! ### Software Engineer @ CarAdvise Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Greater Chicago Area I was hired as a front-end developer but then our main engineer abandoned ship and suddenly I was the only full-time engineer on the team. I was thereby tasked with building out our Ruby on Rails full-stack application with some React.js on the front-end, React Native mobile work, and what can barely pass as DevOps regarding our AWS resources. I consider my greatest accomplishment to be successfully convincing the team to let me take a couple weeks to migrate our most complex user interfaces into React (actually rewriting the interfaces was a relative cakewalk), since trying to build and maintain a dashboard and forms with HAML and jQuery felt like using a cheese grater on my face. ### Software Engineer @ Health123 Jan 2015 – Jan 2016 | Seattle, WA I spent most of this time getting my Ruby code corrected by engineers who were infinitely more competent than I may ever be. I learned a lot in this time so it's a shame it had to be cut short. ## Education ### Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, with honors Baldwin Wallace University ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/ardeasis --- Source: https://flows.cv/armanddeasis JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/armanddeasis/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
