# Aryik Bhattacharya > AI @ Hightouch Location: New York, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/aryik Let's build ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Hightouch Jan 2023 – Present | New York, New York, United States Building AI Decisioning & the Agentic Marketer at Hightouch ### Senior Staff Engineer @ Illumio Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Sunnyvale, California, United States • Technical leader responsible for the policy platform – the services used to write security policy and deliver those policies across Illumio’s product portfolio, with 3,500,000+ workloads under management globally. o Created touchpoints and institutionalized a cadence of team meetings and 1-1s to maintain cohesion. o Developed processes for escalation handling, design review, and code review as the team scaled. o Established engineering best practices and ensured they were broadly communicated. o Implemented tooling for support and engineering to increase leverage and reduce toil. • Engineering owner for scaling policy delivery from 25,000 servers to 350,000 mixed servers/endpoints. o Collaborated with product/engineering management to build the first iteration of endpoint policy. o Defined architectural vision and designed decomposition of datastores to enable horizontal scaling. • Worked closely with strategic accounts, including some of the world’s largest banks and SaaS companies. o Drove delivery of critical features, from requirements-gathering to implementation, helping to secure >$15 million in new business, renewals, and expansions. o Go-to engineer for P1 issues and outages related to policy delivery and application availability in some of the most regulated computing environments in the world, such as the US SWIFT backbone. o Delivered a feature enabling a reduction in network flow volume, saving >$1,000/day on storage. o Designed and implemented eventually consistent policy delivery to remove locks from critical paths and increase policy throughput 300%, reducing customer-observed convergence times by 67%. • Drove cross-engineering observability initiative to reduce support costs and improve MTTR. • Built APIs in a distributed system using Ruby, Redis, PostgreSQL, HAProxy. • Traveled to Slovakia to bootstrap a redesign of our k8s security solution. ### Staff Engineer @ Illumio Jan 2021 – Jan 2022 | Sunnyvale, California, United States ### Senior Member Of Technical Staff @ Illumio Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Sunnyvale, California, United States ### Member Of Technical Staff @ Illumio Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Sunnyvale, California, United States ### Software Engineering Intern @ Jamf Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Minneapolis • Developed a prototype recommendation engine from end to end using AWS, Docker, Python, and various open source libraries. Handled all aspects of development from architecture through implementation, cost estimation, and demoing the prototype. Created documentation, scripts, and CloudFormation templates to enable future development. • Developed a wide-ranging vision for machine learning at Jamf as a member of a 2-person team and pitched it to C-level leaders. • Architected, implemented, and deployed a serverless application that runs natural language processing on feature requests and makes the data available to decision makers using AWS Lambda/Comprehend and Python. ### Member of Technical Staff, Intern @ Illumio Jan 2018 – Jan 2018 | Sunnyvale, CA • One of 6 engineers on the team that builds and maintains the main webservice that powers the Policy Compute Engine or the “central brain” of the product. • Developed an in-memory and on-disk cache to improve performance of a critical API operation by 30-90% at scale (tens to hundreds of thousands of objects) in order to improve UI load-time. • Iteratively developed features and resolved 11 bugs across 3 production releases by working with quality assurance, product management, and UI engineers. • Engineered features for performance and scalability in a distributed system using Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, and other technologies. ### Software Engineering Intern @ Jamf Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area • Led an iOS/tvOS app targeted at the healthcare and retail verticals from concept through production. Developed the initial prototypes in Swift, conducted customer interviews, and deployed to the B2B app store. Collaborated with engineers and designers on a cross-functional scrum team to build the final version of the app, which is being used in production in a customer’s neonatal intensive care unit. • Created and maintained continuous integration pipelines and build processes using Bamboo for projects in Java and Swift. • Analyzed research projects over time to identify the proportion of breakthrough vs incremental innovation and conducted a workshop to present my findings to the research team. • Developed a Splunk integration and demoed it to customers at the annual Jamf Nation User Conference. • Designed a proof of concept PKI integration by working collaboratively with a PKI vendor. • Built various prototypes and proof of concepts (integrations, a microservice with a REST API) using various technologies (Java, Spring, Swift, Python) ### Undergraduate Researcher @ University of Minnesota Critical Systems Research Group Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area Researcher in a Nasa feasibility study to adapt their Autonomy Operating System (AOS) to power autonomous drone flight in shared airspace. I have automated and standardized development VM creation using Vagrant and shell scripting, and we are currently planning and developing applications to run on the AOS platform. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science University of Minnesota Jan 2015 – Jan 2019 ### Wayzata High School Jan 2011 – Jan 2015 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/aryik --- Source: https://flows.cv/aryik JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/aryik/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-20
