# Asha Sankar Ramalaxmi > Software Engineer - Machine Learning at Eikon Therapeutics Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ashasankarramalaxmi Curious, Creative, and Kind. Email is the best way to reach me. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Eikon Therapeutics Jan 2021 – Present Working at the interface of the software, device/instrument engineering, and biomedical applications. Will be involved closely with the biology, medicinal chemistry, and hardware/optical engineering teams to develop software pipelines for data and metadata flow, instrument communication, and biological analysis. ### Research Assistant @ University of Minnesota Jan 2021 – Jan 2021 Worked on developing software tools that enabled better access to research data using Python. ### Graduate Research Assistant @ Computational Visual Neuroscience Laboratory at CMRR Jan 2019 – Jan 2020 | Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area Led a team of two and developed NSD Face-Word Annotations as a part of the NSD extensions. The stimulus images were taken from Microsoft’s COCO Dataset and their ground truth was automatically and semiautomatically established using human raters and Deep Neural Networks, for both faces and words. Further body annotations and the foreground maps were generated from the annotations made available by Microsoft COCO. Based on which, metrics were calculated which is being utilized to try and explain variance in fMRI brain responses. Presented a talk at “Perception Lunch” at the Department of Psychology, UMN, on developing quantifiable stimulus information in Natural Scenes (NSD). Presented a research poster on "Stability and Quality of Single Trial Estimates of Natural Scenes Dataset" as a part of “The Algonauts Project” at MIT, Cambridge. Showed how using good pre-processing techniques can improve the signal to noise ratio and thereby increasing the noise ceiling to 55% (on average). [Developed and documented the code] ### Research Assistant @ Nanyang Technological University Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Singapore Developed an online neurofeedback system that can be employed as a generic familiarization protocol before brain-computer interface applications. The protocol allows users to train specific Electroencephalogram (EEG) rhythms and respond effectively which helps to improve the subject’s brain activity and BCI performance. The online neurofeedback BCI system was developed in Python and EEG data was collected from research grade 32-channel EEG amplifier. The offline analysis was done in Matlab. Worked in the Hardware and Embedded Systems Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Vinod A Prasad ### Member @ Spider, R&D club of NIT Trichy Jan 2016 – Jan 2017 | Tiruchchirappalli Area, India Worked on a project where in a “Piezo Harvester” circuit was designed to efficiently tap power from piezo beams and power up low power sensors. The project was completed and exhibited in the Sangam Exhibition in Pragyan 2016, ISO 9001 & 20121 certified annual International Techno-management Festival of NITT. Helped in club management and project development. ### Research Fellowship @ Indian Institute of Technology, Madras Jan 2013 – Jan 2013 | Chennai Area, India Analyzed and developed an Artificial Neural Network model that's inspired from the information processing that occurs in the visual cortex using Matlab Worked in the Computational Neuroscience lab at the Biotech department supervised by Dr. V. Srinivasa Chakravarthy, IIT Madras. ## Education ### Master's degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering University of Minnesota ### Bachelor of Technology - BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli ### Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/asha-sr - Website: https://ashsr.github.io/ --- Source: https://flows.cv/ashasankarramalaxmi JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/ashasankarramalaxmi/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-05
