# Ashley Nicodemus > Human-Centered Product Design Leader | MedTech UX | AI + ML in Healthcare | FDA-Cleared Class III Medical Devices | Diagnostic & Surgical Tools Location: San Jose, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/ashleynicodemus I design intuitive, clinically effective tools for the complex world of medtech. With over a decade of experience leading UX and product design for Class II and Class III medical devices, I specialize in transforming diagnostic workflows, integrating AI into the clinician’s toolkit, and navigating the regulatory requirements that bring safe, usable innovations to market. But I don’t just create usable products, I build what doesn’t exist yet. I thrive in ambiguous problem spaces, where the right path isn’t obvious and tradeoffs are inevitable. Whether I'm defining a brand-new SaaMD product or redesigning a mature platform for clinical scale, I balance user needs, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements to push what’s possible without compromising safety or clarity. My work spans FDA-cleared surgical systems, AI-powered wearables, and diagnostic platforms delivered via web, mobile, and PDF. I collaborate with regulatory, clinical, and engineering teams to align design with IEC 62366, HE-75, and usability testing standards. From building cross-platform design systems to simplifying multi-role workflows, I focus on delivering solutions that are both visionary and grounded. Recent projects include Stryker’s $2.3B surgical navigation suite, iRhythm’s AI-enabled Zio onboarding, and a redesign of ImpediMed’s diagnostic reporting tools to reduce clinical use errors. My design leadership has supported multiple FDA clearances, successful summative testing, and strong post-market adoption. I'm passionate about simplifying complex health technologies, empowering clinicians, and building medtech products that solve the right problems intelligently, responsibly, and with lasting impact. ## Work Experience ### Principal Product Designer / Senior Design Director @ UEGroup Jan 2022 – Present I lead through hands-on design—shaping workflows, interaction models, and systems to deliver end-to-end, data-informed experiences that enable adoption of emerging technology, reduce complexity, and scale across complex product ecosystems.
