Scandid is a free barcode scanner based shopping mobile application allowing its users with the deals on products from online and nearby local stores. It allows users to find products by scanning the barcode, searching by keywords, or speaking the product name. It aggregates price and availability data across all online retailers in India and provides an easy way for users to compare prices of products. Scandid users have the ability to browse daily deals and offers compiled from hundreds of sources. The mobile application and website have a comprehensive database of product deals in books, electronics, computers, personal care, and home appliances categories.

My Responsibilities: 
1. Responsible for the framework of new APIs and its implementation. Spearheaded the development part of the projects like Barcode Processing, Rewards and Redemption feature, Crawler for products and coupons and Cohort Notifications based on user transactions.

2. Maintenance of approximately 50 Microsoft Azure Servers on which entire backend infrastructure was based.  The addition of new instance servers and maintaining daily processes on them.

3. Solving major bugs and issues of the product.

Project Title - Querying Real-Time Data using Apache Spark

                Numerous approaches have been developed to help to deal with 'big data'. Handling large data in real time presents difficulties such as storing the whole data and then querying it. However, querying this large data with the current approaches does not give results in real time since the processing happens in large batches. 

                The project uses the platform of Apache Spark Streaming to query the real-time data and give results in real time by using micro-batches. The system developed facilitates viewing the results on varied granularity i.e from 10 seconds to 1 day. Being able to view aggregates of data as recent as a minute ago helps to make better decisions as compared to when results of only a day ago are available. The system is exposed to a large amount of data, approximately 5000 requests per second. The interface will be a web page which will display the aggregated results depending on the window the user selects. The output will be displayed in table format or can be visualized on heat map and graph.
