Joined as a Fullstack Engineer providing an even split of value between our React frontend and our backend systems. Transitioned to exclusively backend working on our core systems, which encompassed our infrastructure and third party integrations.

In this capacity as a Backend Engineer, I worked with a variety of AWS Services (Lambda, Kinesis, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, Cognito, RDS and others) along with our primary datastore of PostgreSQL and deployment tool of choice Terraform.

I became a subject matter expert on many of our internal systems along with the services listed above and was a key force in accelerating the engineering team.

I also helped us integrate with other third party systems and helped to architect our core systems to easily facilitate this process. Part of this process included moving to a microservices approach, employing both more traditional REST APIs and GraphQL as a communication medium.

Worked on multitude of products internal to the company, in addition to my primary project. Enhanced existing back end written in Go, with new features, as well as optimizations. Most of these revolved around extending the existing REST API endpoints with new data sources. Also worked on adding concurrency to existing code using go-routines to increase efficiency.

Primary Project - Completed during Co-Op period - Live at console.wasabisys.com - I worked closely with product and especially design to ensure our shared vision was seamlessly executed.
