As a professor in Design at the University of Washington and California College of the Arts, I spent 5 years recruiting, leading, and professionally developing large, diverse design cohorts. This leadership included identifying and mentoring top design talent, building project teams, giving clear and actionable design guidance, leading workshops, teaching design strategy and values, hands-on design and research methods, as well as hiring and managing teaching assistants.
I taught graduate and undergraduate courses across design disciplines—from students’ first interdisciplinary design studio, to the last studio of graduate school in HCI+D. Topics: Visual Communication Design, Interaction Design, Furniture Design, Design-thinking for non-design majors, UX Research Methods, Prototyping (physical and digital), and Design Storytelling.
