# Austin Saucier > Senior Software Engineer at onX Maps Location: Kalispell, Montana, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/austinsaucier I'm a Senior Software Engineer in the Content (Geospatial Data) domain at onX. My core focus recently has been working on an internal geospatial data conflation platform, which algorithmically fuses data from hundreds of sources, flags problems/ambiguities for humans to review, and facilitates building and continuously improving the core datasets composing the fabrics of our maps. I also contribute heavily to our web-based geospatial editor (a private fork of Meta's Rapid editor), which allows GIS analysts and map curators to review and modify the spatial fabrics of our maps—things like roads, trails, waterbodies, and land parcels. In addition to computers, programming, and science, I'm passionate about nature and the outdoors and spend as much free time as I can enjoying, exploring, and learning about it. I'm an avid hiker, backpacker, and skier. I also enjoy mountain biking and taking camping and overlanding trips with my wife and daughter. Naturally, due to the conjunction of these interests, I'm fascinated with maps and have considerable experience building and designing digital maps as well as geospatial databases, API services, data processing pipelines, geospatial content platforms, and web applications. ## Work Experience ### Senior Software Engineer @ onXmaps, Inc. Jan 2023 – Present ### Lead Software Engineer and Co-Founder @ Elebase Jan 2018 – Jan 2023 | Whitefish, MT As co-founder and lead software engineer, I was responsible for designing and building many parts of Elebase, an API-first data management platform with geospatial capabilities. In addition, I have built web applications, websites, interactive maps, data pipelines,
command-line tools, APIs, and more for organizations such as Apple, National Geographic, UNESCO, Montana Wilderness Association, National Parks Conservation Association, Big Sky Resort, XPRIZE, High Line Canal Conservancy, and Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments. ### Software Engineer @ Old Town Creative + Interactive Jan 2014 – Jan 2018 | Whitefish, MT Old Town Creative + Interactive was a small agency that provided design and development services to many high-profile clients. The hallmark of our work here centered on designing and building applications that featured location-based, user-managed content. My work included building websites, iOS apps, APIs, a PHP framework, and more for clients such as National Geographic, Maine Office of Tourism, Waterton Lakes National Park, James River Association, and the Whitefish Convention and Visitors Bureau. After a year working with the team, I was invited to become a partner in the company. Three years later, we decided to take the company in a more product-focused direction and develop an ambitious data management platform called Elebase. In line with this change in direction, we reincorporated as Elebase, Inc. ### Freelance Software Engineer @ Self Employed Jan 2008 – Jan 2014 | Tampa, FL and Whitefish, MT After leaving college, I started my career as a programmer doing both server-side and client-side web development. After the introduction of the iPhone and subsequent opening of the App Store to third-party developers, I became an expert in iOS development and built native apps for many clients, often in combination with server-side infrastructures and web APIs. ## Education ### University of Central Florida ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/austinsaucier --- Source: https://flows.cv/austinsaucier JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/austinsaucier/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-23
