# Baban Hamesalh > Full Stack Engineer at Dynata (Branded Research Inc.) | Master of Science in Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology Location: Santee, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/baban Career: I’m privileged to work as a full stack engineer with the Branded Research Inc. team (acquired by Dynata). Some of my contributions include enhancing our fraud ML model, designing and implementing changes on the surveys.gobranded site to improve user experience, and building data pipelines to support business logic and analytics. Education: My academic journey started at UCSD, majoring in Pharmacological Chemistry with a minor in Computer Science. I am a graduate of Georgia Tech's Master of Science in Computer Science program, where I was a researcher in Patricio Vela’s lab as part of the NavTuner project. This project focuses on integrating Reinforcement Learning (RL) with control systems to optimize navigation tasks. NavTuner aims to showcase the benefits of utilizing a controls-informed approach for robot navigation compared to pure RL and pure controls-based systems. Vision: RL holds a special allure for me. During my Educational Technology course, my team crafted "ProgramRPG", a turn-based educational programming game demo. My role was to design and implement an RL-based AI that adapted to player performance in general Python concepts, prompting the player to solve questions they were more likely to struggle with. The project underscored RL's potential in reshaping adaptive experiences, a potential I’m excited to further explore. ## Work Experience ### Full Stack Engineer @ Dynata Jan 2022 – Present | San Diego, California, United States + Enhanced fraud ML model using Python, optimizing speed and accuracy of fraud prevention measures. + Designed and developed automated flags in PHP for potential fraudulent activities, reducing cost per survey complete by 20% and receiving Dynata Shining Star honor in recognition of achievement. + Built SQL and AWS-based data pipelines supporting business logic and surfaced data via JavaScript frontend. + Served as technical lead in a project involving overhaul of old partner integration on surveys.gobranded, increasing revenue per session by 46% and obtaining Dynata Shining Star honor for engineering efforts. ### Graduate Student Researcher @ Patricio Vela Autobots Lab Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 | Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA + Debugged navigation code in ROS2 to replicate key results from NavTuner paper and expand test cases. + Integrated SLAM Toolbox to replace simplified localization, enabling realistic testing of RL-assisted navigation. + Performed hyperparameter analysis to find configuration yielding clean maps and precise navigation metrics. + Mentored new student researchers by providing resources and guidance on lab work. ### Undergraduate Researcher @ Susan Taylor Lab Jan 2018 – Jan 2019 | UCSD, La Jolla, CA + Analyzed HDX-MS data for Protein Kinase A and an oncoprotein variant in complex with partner proteins using DynamX 3.0 software to investigate their dynamics and interaction interfaces. + Prepared LB culture plates, LB & SB media, aliquots, and SDS & TAE buffers. Also ordered and autoclaved items. ### Cashier @ GTM Discount General Store Jan 2017 – Jan 2018 | Santee, California, United States + Cooperated with other employees to politely help customers and prevent theft and discount cheating attempts. ## Education ### Master of Science - MS in Computer Science Georgia Institute of Technology ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Pharmacological Chemistry, minor in Computer Science UC San Diego ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/bhamesalh - GitHub: https://github.com/bhamesal --- Source: https://flows.cv/baban JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/baban/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-18
