# Bam Singhasaneh > CrunchLabs Toy Engineer, BattleBot Builder, Interdisciplinary Creative Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/bam After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering, I was a part of multiple startups researching, ideating, and prototyping a wide range of consumer products, from a smart bin to a countertop greenhouse. In addition to my work in product development, I taught elementary to college level mathematics as a part-time math teacher. I furthered my passion for product design while studying in MIT’s Integrated Design & Management master’s program. During my time at MIT, I developed a deep understanding of the human-centered design process, as well as an interest in toy design. I became a graduate fellow at MIT’s Morningside Academy of Design, conducting research on creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for young children. I spent a summer interning at IDEO’s Play Lab as a toy inventor, kickstarting my career in the toy industry. Today, I work as a product designer at CrunchLabs, leveraging my interdisciplinary experiences as a mechanical engineer, designer, and educator. In this role, I develop toys that inspire children to become creative problem solvers by evoking their curiosity in science and engineering. Outside of work, I am a part of team Valkyrie on BattleBots as an engineer, builder, and driver. I also compete regularly with my 3lb beetleweight robot Nightlight at local events, sharing my love for engineering and problem solving through the excitement of combat robotics. I approach complex problems through a solution-neutral lens with human-centered design, before leveraging my interdisciplinary skill set to implement creative solutions. Accordingly, I describe myself as an Interdisciplinary Creative. I specialize in end-to-end product development, from user research, to ideation, prototyping, design for manufacturing, and bringing products to market. As a champion of human-centered design, I involve stakeholders throughout the design process to ensure that the product deeply resonates with stakeholder and user needs. I believe that everyday interactions subconsciously shape perception and behavior, and that redesigning these experiences for children can create meaningful and long-lasting impact. ## Work Experience ### Product Designer @ CrunchLabs Jan 2023 – Present | California, United States • Developing toys that inspire children to become creative problem solvers by evoking their curiosity in science and engineering. • Doing anything from cooking to blowing things up on the CrunchLabs and Mark Rober YouTube Channels. ### Mechanical Engineer @ BattleBots Team Valkyrie Jan 2022 – Present | California, United States Engineer, Builder, and Driver on Team Valkyrie from the Discovery TV Show BattleBots. ### Math & English Tutor @ Unknown Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 I tutor students online in the following subjects: • Math: Elementary • Math: Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus • Math: A Level • English: ESL • SAT: General and Subject Tests ### Teaching Assistant: Product Design & Development (15.783/2.739) @ Massachusetts Institute of Technology Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Teaching Assistant: Exploring and Applying Human-Centered Design @ Massachusetts Institute of Technology Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Boston, Massachusetts, United States ### Toy Invention Intern | IDEO Play Lab @ IDEO Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | San Francisco, California, United States • Tinker, explore, and validate new toy and game concepts • Solve complex electrical & mechanical challenges • Create high quality working prototypes • Create engaging videos of prototypes and concepts ### Design Engineer @ Manta Product Development Inc.
