• Built custom networking library. Reliability layer over UDP, efficient object synchronization, and compression/quantization techniques.

• Serverside authoritative and client-side prediction (rollback / replay).

Full-stack feature development, SRE, DBA, and leading cross-engineering efforts with external agencies.

• Developed an event-driven booking data service to provide real-time updates to client back-office systems. This was a key driver in on-boarding our largest new federation clients.

• Lead the creation of public APIs for travel search and marketing services.

• Modernized our data pipeline architecture from in-house servers to cloud based Helm Charts saving months of downtime during an unexpected transition into a remote-work company.

• On-call SRE (part of 3-person team) maintaining our > 99.5% uptime SLA for over 5 years. Includes leading several security audits, building our disaster recovery playbook, and running training scenarios.

• Redesigned core MySQL architecture. Reduced CPU usage from 100% during peak to <10% through aggressive performance optimizations, read replicas, and ProxySQL implementation.

Created a cross platform multiplayer game for mobile devices with real-time action gameplay, on-demand dedicated servers, persistent galaxy, user account management, and social squads.

• Created a distributed messaging service using RabbitMQ to allow the backend to scale and load balance players across servers.

• Multi-threaded orchestrator to create and scale game server instances on demand.

• Created a networking library for real-time gameplay. This involved writing a reliability layer over UDP, efficient object synchronization using priority queues, and compression/quantization techniques.

• Implemented NAT UDP punchthrough to enable local hosting.

Integration for datacenter hardware API's and writing in-house DSL scripts to automate datacenter deployments.

• Designed and built the iSCSI install automation, a key adapter for same-day Flexpod deployments.

• Refactored blueprint tool to be client-side driven, eliminating latency and greatly improving our customer demos.

• Implemented a new automation test suite from scratch, reducing full regression testing from over a month to 5 days.

• Wore many other hats in an agile startup environment, including: troubleshooting networking issues on a Debian-Linux based platform, fixing bugs in the application, and writing the user guide.
