Software engineer. Passionate about taking ideas from Proof of Concept to production with software.
Extremely curious, I like to learn most about anything that flies or goes fast.
Leading a team of 5, working remotely from San Francisco.
We turn action sports into a big online game - play Tony Hawk Pro Skater in the real world vs. the TV screen. We created the WOO - an innovative wearable for action sports that measures things like airtime, jump height, g-force among many other key metrics.
* Implementation of best practices: Code Reviews, Unit testing, and building a strong engineering culture in an effort to augment software quality. Managing of app release cycles, coaching and mentoring of individuals in the team. Technical interlocutor with product manager and rest of the company, managing expectations, roadmaps and deadlines.
* Rewrote the backend from scratch, the new Python backend lives on AWS Lambda functions via serverless. We are using a custom made deployment process and architecture on top of Serverless allowing us to overcome limitations of the framework. This technology offers a high scalability at a low cost.
* Engineered a Proof of Concept Apple watch app in Swift to showcase the possibilities of using GPS to record Kiteboarding data.
When WatchOS 4 became available in September 2017, I iterated on the prototype app to connect it to the WOO via BLE and display real time jump heights from the sensor. This became a key feature of the WOO 3.0 product.
* Built a low cost RTK (Real Time Kinematik) system to serve as ground truth and help assessing and refining our jump detection algorithms. It offers centimeter-level accuracy at a relatively high sampling rate of 5 Hz.
* Implemented a suite of solutions to provide WOO results in real time during events, leveraging existing channels such as Slack and Intercom to broadcast the data.
Covered events include Red Bull King of the Air 2017 and 2018, Sosh Big Air 2017, and Banked Air 2018.
