# Berkay Barlas > Software Engineer @Apple Location: San Francisco Bay Area, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/berkay While I was in the second year of my Electrical Electronics Degree, I wanted to make an IoT project to track my daily nutrition intake. I built an intelligent box with a camera, weight, and Raspberry pi that sends images from the box to the AWS server, including the weight data. The server classified the food and calculated the nutritions using an ML image recognition algorithm. I was able to track my intake with an Android mobile application that I developed. That project made me realize my passion for Web Development and Data-intensive applications, which continues today. Since then, I have completed three internships and worked as an open-source contributor in Mozilla, where I updated Reader Mode designs in the Firefox browser and worked on a performance profiler. Currently, I'm working as a FE developer in a startup that provides high-performance cloud computers with a web connection interface. For my senior design project, I built a web application to classify cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy from the uploaded fundus images using Machine Learning algorithms. I designed the overall scalable cloud architecture and prepared the project's front-end, back-end using React, Python, and AWS.
