Jan 2011 – Jan 2012 | Sunnyvale, CA Brought in to lead user experience design, strategy and research efforts for websites and mobile apps in development for 8+ companies being incubated. Worked concurrently with onsite, offsite and international teams on multiple projects, all at different stages of development and launch, to build effective websites and mobile apps for the American market. Product domains included: a B2B health and wellness solution, smart grid solutions for utilities, mobile gaming, restaurant reservation systems, and online learning tools. Identified & executed key UX wins to build understanding and buy-in to the need and benefits of UX processes. Created, managed product scope and requirements and launched WasteNot, a green, crowd-sourced, world-changing app with information about reducing your footprint on the planet, and TaxiFlasher, a simple app that flags down cabs (one of many possible uses), a learning project created to teach our team the iPhone/iOS platform and the Apple submission processes. ### Artist/Fabricator @ Flaming Lotus Girls Jan 2008 – Jan 2009 | San Francisco, CA The Flaming Lotus Girls create large-scale, interactive fire installations that engage viewers and invite them to become part of the art. Our work stands at the intersection of sculpture, kinetics, robotics, pyrotechnics, and electronic technology. Flaming Lotus Girls’ work is a collaborative process that empowers participants to learn new skills and become experienced, talented and active artists. Managed two government-funded, national, behavioral research studies across three service sites. Recruited, educated and interviewed study participants from difficult-to-access populations. Redesigned intake forms and questionnaires, which improved usability and increased completion rates by 200% and response rates by 75%.
