Running the engineering organization at SailPlan: a marine fleet observability and sustainability data platform. Designing, developing and deploying our solution from end-to-end, starting with instrumentation and data acquisition at the edge, all the way to business intelligence and customer dashboards, and everything in between. Managing customer implementation and deployment while maintaining hands-on technical contributions on critical systems. Managing a team of engineers distributed worldwide, alongside contributing to product/GTM strategy, and managing customer implementation and deployment, reporting directly to the CEO

Built SailPlan's core technology from the ground up as the founding engineer. Designed, developed and field-deployed the complete data system: on-vessel edge compute and instrumentation hardware, ship-to-shore communication systems (LTE and SATCOM), and cloud-native analytics platform (AWS + MongoDB). Architected embedded IoT hardware and software distributed across vessel subsystems to interface with onboard sensors and automation systems for real-time operational data collection and transmission. Developed highly available data ingestion pipeline for near-real-time fleet telemetry and data warehousing. Built machine learning models for fuel consumption, fuel combustion and greenhouse gas emissions, and voyage planning. Led pilot programs to establish product-market fit through operational efficiency analysis and voyage optimization insights. Established the foundational technical team and hiring practices.
