# Brian B. > Product Designer specializing in complex enterprise workflows and regulated industries (insurance, compliance). Location: San Francisco, California, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/brianb I’m a full-stack product designer who enjoys making complex systems feel simple, usable, and dependable for the people who rely on them every day. My work is grounded in a customer-centric approach and a deep appreciation for how real users actually get their jobs done. Most of my experience has been in enterprise B2B SaaS, designing products in complex and often regulated environments where clarity, accuracy, and efficiency truly matter. I enjoy collaborating across product, engineering, and operations to turn ambiguity into practical, well-crafted solutions. I’m especially interested in opportunities where technology can create positive impact, including the public sector at the state and local level, as well as climate and health technology. ## Work Experience ### Lead UX Designer @ Applied Systems Jan 2021 – Jan 2025 • Leveraged qualitative and quantitative research findings to co-create a new product vision with cross-functional partners for Applied’s flagship CRM product, Epic. This new future state would allow for a seamless, digital roundtrip renewal experience for brokers and insureds, speeding up the process while reducing the potential for costly errors. • Led research and design efforts to upgrade Applied’s digital data capture product, Indio, to accommodate complex commercial property data capture, enabling the seamless, error-free transfer of data from the Indio insured portal to its corresponding policy in the Epic CRM without brokers having to manually rekey data. • Led the design of an internal tool that allows non-technical team members to easily add validation rules and error messages to insured-facing fields in Applied’s digital data capture product, Indio, resulting in a seamless transfer of policy data between the two platforms for the first time. • In collaboration with cross-functional partners, I spearheaded the research and design effort to enhance Applied’s data capture product, Indio, to allow brokers to send insured policy data to multiple insurance carriers simultaneously, increasing operational efficiency and time to quote. ### Senior Product Designer @ Applied Systems Jan 2019 – Jan 2021 • Designed and validated a new information architecture and navigation structure for Applied’s data capture product, Indio, that would better allow for new features and functionality to be layered in over time, while improving wayfinding and usability for brokers and insureds alike. ### Senior Product Designer @ Indio Technologies Inc. Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco, California, United States Indio was acquired by Applied Systems in December of 2019. • Facilitated multiple rounds of research and leveraged findings to inform the design of Indio’s broker-facing form templates feature, giving brokers the ability to hide irrelevant sections of Indio’s digital insurance forms, to mark individual fields or sections as required, and to pre-fill specific fields without having to go through the tedious, time consuming process of configuring a given form prior to each use. • Led research and design efforts to redesign Indio’s broker-facing feature that allows brokers to view year-over-year changes in insured exposure data, thus preventing them from having to perform a manual, time intensive, and error-prone visual diff using multiple browser windows or printouts. • Led research and design efforts for the broker-facing interface for the Indio form library—a repository of nearly 40k digitized commercial insurance forms that brokers use to select various forms for their clients to complete in Indio’s client-facing data collection portal. • Redesigned and validated the digital data capture experience for brokers and insureds to be more scalable, intuitive, and responsive per device type and viewport size. • Partnered with developers to quickly establish a flexible, bare bones design system (and documentation) that accelerated the design and development efficiency of features during the early stage of Indio’s product evolution. ### Senior Product Designer @ DocuSign Jan 2014 – Jan 2019 | San Francisco, CA • Managed a design systems team of two product designers and one prototyper while collaborating with the design systems engineering lead to develop the overall strategy and planning for the project. I also contributed hands-on design solutions for components and patterns, developed and evangelized contribution processes for the broader design and engineering orgs, and produced documentation for the design system at large. • Partnered with the lead accessibility engineer over an 18 month period to ensure Docusign’s customer and signer-facing interfaces adhered to WCAG standards to allow the company to retain strategic enterprise customers such as Microsoft, Apple, and Bank of America. • As a side project I co-founded Docusign’s first design system with a front-end engineer that eventually morphed into an official, funded project with five engineers, three designers, and one prototyper that served to increase designer and developer efficiency and consistency throughout the Docusign product ecosystem. • Collaborated with UX researchers, lead UX designers, product managers, and engineering leads to redesign Docusign’s core e-signature experiences while the engineering team was re-platforming the product’s backend during an aggressive push to capture the e-signature market. ### UI/Visual Designer @ DesignMap Jan 2013 – Jan 2014 | San Francisco, CA In close partnership with UX leads and technical writers, I designed the UI for several Salesforce Marketing Cloud features such as contact management, marketing automation, reporting, and more. ### Founding UX Designer @ Shibumi Jan 2012 – Jan 2013 | San Francisco, CA • Partnered with the cofounders to define the problem space, user outcomes, and business goals that informed the 0-1 user experience and UI that was ultimately released to a small group of beta customers. • Collaborated with the cofounders on defining and developing net-new post-GA features while continuing to iterate on existing features per feedback from customers. • Designed the initial brand identity and public facing marketing website to coincide with the beta product release to select customers. ### UX Designer @ CafePress.com Jan 2008 – Jan 2012 | San Mateo, CA • Collaborated with the group GM and engineering lead to design a tool that enabled customers to design and order custom printed on-demand merchandise for their team, group, or event. • Designed custom merchandising experiences for CafePress partners such as ABC, National Geographic, and Lionsgate films. • Partnered with product managers and designers to redesign the CafePress.com marketplace to coincide with a rebranding effort conducted by an outside firm and investment from venture capital firms. ## Education ### San José State University ### Long Beach City College ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/brian-b-3704502 --- Source: https://flows.cv/brianb JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/brianb/resume.json Last updated: 2026-03-25
