# Brian Park > Software Engineer @ Mirascope, Inc. Location: Brooklyn, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/brianpark I am a Machine Learning Engineer at SOTAI, an AI startup where we focus on enhancing the transparency and interpretability of AI technologies. At SOTAI, we tackle the challenge of making AI decisions understandable and trustworthy. Our work revolves around creating machine learning models that are not only powerful but also understandable, allowing data scientists to apply their expertise effectively and businesses to make AI-assisted decisions confidently. My academic journey, comprising a Bachelor's in Computer Science and a Master's in Scientific Computing, has equipped me with a robust foundation in software development. I have hands-on experience in developing applications and libraries from the ground up. However, what truly fascinates me is the mathematical and theoretical aspects of computing. This interest is reflected in my recent professional endeavors and significant academic projects, where I have focused on neural networks and computer vision. ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Mirascope Jan 2023 – Present Python software engineer for LLM and mathematical machine learning toolkits. Mirascope library: • Core library features, cookbook recipe examples, walkthrough markdowns • User experience review and feedback Pytorch-Lattice: • implementation of base layers for model from scratch (lattice, random tiny lattices) • constraints checks for calibration and linear layers • creating/refactoring premade model classes for lattice/linear layers for code reusability and cleanliness ### Infantry, Military Police @ Republic of Korea Army Jan 2020 – Jan 2021 | Seoul, South Korea Squadron Leader for 6 months during mandatory military conscription for South Korea. Military Occupational Specialty: Munitions. ### Software Engineer @ SRI International Jan 2017 – Jan 2017 | Menlo Park, California, United States Implemented two image processing functionalities for the software of a hyperspectral microscope. •Reversed a compound distortion stemming from the spectral "smile" as well as the pincushion distortion of the physical lens. Used classic image processing techniques such as gaussian blurring and edge enhancement to pick ideal calibration points, then mathematically reversed the distortions. • Designed an automated cell segmentation functionality for specific types of biological sample images. Using the average shapes of clearly individual cell samples, I generated custom convolutional filters for each color channel to achieve the results shown below: ### Back End Developer @ Ahora Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States Backend developer apprenticeship through Horizons School of Technology at Ahora, a Dutch startup aiming to connect the elderly with the best matching caretakers. Working in JavaScript and MongoDB, I developed the database structure for both client and caretaker, as well as developed a matching algorithm based on factors such as availability, shift type, geolocation, and more. ## Education ### Bachelor of Science in Engineering - BSE in Computer and Information Science, Mathematics (Minor) University of Pennsylvania Jan 2014 – Jan 2019 ### Master of Science - MS in Scientific Computing New York University Jan 2021 – Jan 2023 ### Computer Software Engineering Horizons School of Technology Jan 2016 – Jan 2016 ### High School Diploma Collegiate School ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/brian-sm-park --- Source: https://flows.cv/brianpark JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/brianpark/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
