My path from journalism to visual marketing to product design has positioned me to look at experiences through different customer lenses, and craft content design strategies that strategically address various stakeholder needs while, most importantly, addressing customer needs. ## Work Experience ### Lead Product Designer, Loyalty @ Target Jan 2025 – Present ### Lead Product Designer, Deals + Digital Affordability @ Target Jan 2023 – Jan 2025 ### Product Designer, Discovery + Personalization @ Goodreads.com Jan 2020 – Jan 2023 | San Francisco Bay Area • Redesigned the Goodreads app for Kindle e-reader devices, starting with customer research and business frameworks to create and advocate for a unique product design for a specific customer set. • Designed core elements of Goodreads’ new design system — including the typography and iconography systems — partnering closely with development teams. • Focused on discovery and personalization experiences across the Goodreads website on desktop and mobile, as well as native apps for iOS and Android. • Created a UX copywriting process — including guidelines and reviews — to better and more consistently integrate UX content design into the product design process. ### Visual UX Designer @ Goodreads.com Jan 2018 – Jan 2020 | San Francisco Bay Area • Led the redesign of the Goodreads book page as part of a core team focused on creating a north-star, customer-centric vision for Goodreads. • Led a revamp of the Goodreads brand identity: defined and refined the brand’s logo, color palette, imagery guidelines and creative direction. • Led the redesign of Goodreads’ jobs page, including rounds of UX research and photoshoot production, working with multiple stakeholders across marketing, communications, recruiting, and engineering leadership. • Partnered with design team members to refine the Visual UX of designs across the website and native apps. • Created style guidelines to make the Goodreads brand accessible for different audiences. • Designed graphics to drive member acquisition and traffic, and uplevel Goodreads content across Amazon.com, Kindle, Goodreads social media, newsletters, the blog, special event landing pages, etc. • Worked with the advertising team and partners to create campaigns, including page skins and special advertising sections, for Goodreads sites and apps. ### Product Designer (Goodreads) @ Amazon Jan 2018 – Jan 2023 ### Senior Manager, Design + Content Marketing @ Gap Inc. (Listed above.) ### Designer + Copy Editor, San Francisco Examiner @ San Francisco Media Company Jan 2008 – Jan 2012 • Drew recognition for engaging, boundary-pushing layouts — one of which is featured in the 7th edition of “The Newspaper Designer’s Handbook.” • Regularly designed and wrote all copy for the front page. • Served as an arts editor fill-in, assuming story-filing and writing duties when necessary; contributed articles to the arts section. • Earned a main copy editor role, giving most articles the first read in the publication process.
