# Caleb Schaefer > SE @ Autonoma, Prev Masters @Cornell Location: Ithaca, New York, United States Profile: https://flows.cv/calebschaefer I’m a simulation engineer with a strong passion for autonomous vehicles, robotics, and AI. My interest in this field has led me to my current position at Autonoma, where I help to develop simulation tools to create highly realistic digital twins. This passion was fueled from earlier experiences, where I worked as a software engineer for the Indy Autonomous Challenge and worked as an undergraduate machine learning researcher for aerospace applications. During my time at Cornell I worked on human-robot collaboration projects as well as researching compression techniques for vision language models. While AI and ML might be my passion, I've also had previous work experience in software engineering for cloud, web, and high-performance computing. Additionally, during my time at Auburn I have served as peer mentor and Supplemental Instruction Leader for Engineering Physics. All of these experiences have shown me my desire for a career in not only Software Engineering but for teaching and helping others as well! ## Work Experience ### Software Engineer @ Autonoma, Inc Jan 2024 – Present ### Undergraduate Researcher @ Auburn University Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 ### Software Developer @ Autonomous Tiger Racing Jan 2023 – Jan 2024 ### Engineering Intern @ Aviation & Missile Solutions Jan 2023 – Jan 2023 ### Supplemental Instruction Peer Mentor @ Auburn University Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Auburn, Alabama, United States - Provided guidance to two Supplemental Instruction Leaders through three observations throughout the year to improve the quality of their biweekly help sessions. - Presented notes on their strengths, weaknesses, and general recommendations, focusing on topics such as public speaking, time-management/efficiency, planning effectiveness, demeanor, and more to better foster facilitation skills in their future meetings. - Continued to provide support (when not observing) by helping come up with session plan ideas, directing them to different resources, and being present for any questions or concerns they have. ### Supplemental Instruction Leader @ Auburn University Jan 2022 – Jan 2023 | Auburn, Alabama, United States - Hosted two Engineering Physics 1 (for a class size of 230) review sessions a week by creating different materials and content to provide a better understanding of course concepts. - Worked and collaborated with different physics professors on how to improve student comprehension in my sessions as well as their class by having discussions before tests and other major events. ### Software Engineer @ The Buzzword Company Jan 2022 – Jan 2022 | Remote - Developed front-end applications using a variety of AWS services like S3, CloudFront, and Route 53 - During the front-end development, applied and accessed APIs for front-end applications through JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and JSON. - Began to automate the process of AWS resource allocation through terraform scripts. ### Research Intern @ Air Force Research Laboratory Jan 2019 – Jan 2019 | Wright Patterson, AFB - Worked with a chemical Engineer on the development of a Lanthanum Ferrite Formaldehyde Sensor. - While in the lab, designed different Lanthanum acrylics, through different mixing techniques, to test their effectiveness in detecting the presence of formaldehyde (research is still undergoing). - Presented weekly presentations to PHDs on the effectiveness of the sensor. ## Education ### Master of Engineering - MEng in Computer Science Cornell University Jan 2024 – Jan 2025 ### Bachelor of Science - BS in Computer Science Auburn University Jan 2020 – Jan 2024 ### Minor in Mathematics Auburn University Jan 2022 – Jan 2024 ## Contact & Social - LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/calebschaefer --- Source: https://flows.cv/calebschaefer JSON Resume: https://flows.cv/calebschaefer/resume.json Last updated: 2026-04-01
